I'm currently on ASDA branded dark rum. Far cheaper than my usual choices but probably because I'm drinking every night currently

I'd be lying if I didn't admit there are one or two who take a disproportionate amount of my time

@ Eich: Actually, you had described yourself candidly somewhere in the forum as 'a bit misanthropic' so I threw that in lieu of plain ol' squirrelly!

Default McEwan's "Headspace" Scotch Whisky Beer

STEED already mentioned this here:

https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/sho...&postcount=119

Alc 5.8% (£1.68 at ASDA)

...but he didn't review it, so since a bottle of this dark ale came my way yesterday I thought I'd say a few words, as it's a belter!

It's not just one of those "aged in whisky barrels" jobs... it's actually got the whisky added to it, and I found myself rolling it around on my tongue (something you just don't normally do with a beer). You can honestly really taste the stuff! Highly recommended

Default Saltaire "Blonde"

Alc 4% (£1.67 at ASDA)

A soft, frothy and malty tasting blonde ale... very pleasant

SOL

ABV 4.4%

A light and refreshing golden pilsner style beer with a fresh and lemony finish.

Downed a six pack whilst watching the Wolves v Crystal Palace game on tv last night and it certainly brought back memories of my time in Mexico.

Is this worth trying? Reece would have to send us some or travel to Hawaii that has a ten (10) day quarantine for new arrivals plus $600 airfare there

It looks absolutely delicious and I bet it helped to satisfy your thirst. My favorite drink when it is really hot and my tongue seems to be glued to the roof of my mouth is ice-cold black tea with some lemon juice and no sugar.

Making a gallon of mead. Seeing as how it will be a winter time desert drink I planned on labeling it Sir Nils Olaf Spiced Metheglin Mead, but I'm open to other ideas.

3-1/2 pounds of orange blossom honey
1 cinnamon stick
2 0z chopped raisens
1 or 2 cloves
5 or 6 all spice berries
1 cup black tea
1 teaspoon of orange zest

5 grams Lalvin 71B yeast
top off with 'good' water to the gallon mark.

Starting off with an original gravity of 1.128 and looking to end up with a 12% alcohol by volumne.

Should be ready to bottle in 5 to 7 weeks

Default Hatherwood's IPA

ABV 5%, £1.09 at LIDL

This would seem to be a different ale to their "Green Gecko" reviewed earlier, despite the picture of a gecko on the label. Just American hops in this one and a completely different bottle style

A brisk, strong fresh hoppy flavour and a great one to wash down a ploughman's lunch... and it's even 10p cheaper than the Green Gecko was 1 year ago

Opens with subtle charred oak, roasted nuts, hints of vanilla, caramel, and nutmeg. Mid-palate provides warm pepper spice and toasted nuts, finishing with a deeply satisfying robust sweetness in perfect combination. 40$ some is selling for over 100$
