Railings around the 20mm gun.
Kit part is thick.

I will solder the replacement railings from wire of various thickness.
First i needed the workbench.
Cardboard 2mm thick was used to make plug.

I couldnt wrap the frame with 2mm cardboard, without it splitting. Even though i soaked the cardboard for hours in water prior wraping.
Time for plan B.
8 discs from the 2mm cardboard, glued, and sanded on the dremel tool.

After initial strength tests, came the time for the real thing.
I glued the part of the unused Nautilus deck to the underside of the plug to get the right spacing for stantions.
Top rail, and 3 stantions are thicker 0,7mm wire- same as was used on top of the CT.
Rest of the legs were made of the 0,4mm wire.

I need to sand the joints, to get nice , flat finish. Not bad for the first time soldering eh?

Having the break from the wintergarten, so time to finish the main body of the CT.

The voicetube.
Revell part was not aractive proposition, so i made new 1 from 1mm wire.

Brilliant job on the railing & voice-tube, Siara!

Do you plan to add the wooden planks on the lower rail? And perhaps a plug for the voice-tube?

Thank You for the kind words.
I will add the planks later. i think i give the plug a miss, as the overall setting will be WO and E. Topp on the CT with the watch crew, and 3 sailors as the gun crew.

... (speechless). That CT is looking so far beyond awesome ...

And now the railing. Beautiful job. Did the wire keep the shape easily enough? Or did you have to heat to get the shape to keep? I have visions of the whole thing wanting to straighten out, but obviously it didn't.

Thanks Bart8for3!

The key in shaping the rail was, to wrap it first, around smaller diameter round object- in this case i used the Fahrenheit doedorant can.
When it sprung back a little it was tight fit on the plug.

Arresting hooks, which are located on both sides of the top of the CT.
The crew used them to fasten the harnessess to it during storm weather.

It is only the test on scrap bit of plastic:

Couple of wires made from 0,1mm wire.

Holes for wintergarten drilled.

Now im planing to paint the insides of the CT, before i glue top part to the bottom in order to connect the railings.

Now another picture just surfaced, thanks to Dougie Martindale.
It shows the left side of the console where BBC box is located. Now- to replicate it im searching for more fotos of the box, some drawings perhaps.
Heres the pic:

I made the box as well as i could from 1 picture.

I rounded the top of the air stacks, the kit parts are ready for later U-boats with mesh grilles at the top.
