Just downloaded GWX 2.1 and commander, I'm also using the OLC mod.....I'm just leaving port, can't wait to get further along.
One question though, on the Map, contacts don't appear as squares, etc. I plotted a path for my sub and all I see are lines...is it supposed to be like this? |

Allow me, Jim.

![]() The behaviour you describe is part of the "OLC GUI Special" JSGME mod you installed. It's not the fault of the GWX guys. Please read post #1 of the Ubermod thread and/or the documentation supplied with the Ubermod. |

I'm trying to get SH3 with GWX 2.1 + OLC2 the environment pack (not the GUI) and some mods to work on my laptop but it seems the framerate is just terrible and the game unplayable.
![]() The game works nice on my table-PC but would be nice to get it to work on the laptop as well. I guess that's impossible. I've tried vanilla SH3 and without OLC2, it's a little better but still not very good. Bit odd cause I can get many other grafix - heavy games to work somewhat ok but with SH3 it's a no-no. I'm running a Vista machine with enough RAM but the grafix card is probably the hangup. edit. Actually got the game running at least ok by fiddling with the particle density. Hello All,
I've been playing SH3 with GWX and OLC GUI for nearly a year now, and I've just noticed a minor issue with the navigation map. I no longer see the labels of things like the Skaggerak and Rockall Banks that show up at the intermediate zoom level. I still see the big things like ports, cities, and the big oceans' names. Has anyone else seen this and/or is there anything I can do about it? I did try reinstalling everything which didn't help. Is this something that is by design with GWX? I'm asking the same question over in the OLC thread. Okay, thanks. Adam |

Lorient in 2.1
Greetings; Ok so I'm running a viib 2nd Flotilla out of Lorient in 2.1.
This harbour is a pain in the nads. Shallow and seems as several stuck ships including an inward bound sub now and then that runs aground in the channel. I am wondering if there is a way to edit the map and sort of 'dredge' out the harbour a bit.

:rotfl: Harbour traffic is a nightmare to get right You can try Refs terrain editor to deepen and alter the port http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...terrain+editor |

Alright...........
I'm diggin' GWX........Way more pucker factor in this game than in SH4......(Fleetboat firepower can't be beat though!). I love getting depth charged in this game........it puts you to work....!!! Anyhow I'm on my 4th war patrol in game...........12/39 The question I have is about how much traffic their seems to be in GWX......... Most of my patrols sofar have been a week to two weeks long, I barely round the Northern tip of UK and down into the Hebrides and by then I've bagged a VIIB's worth of merchants........... Then I turn back............In other words their are a lot of targets of opportunity......Seems a bit unrealistic..... A little to fruitful maybe?

U still get the proper icons on the map if BDU reports a contact of a convoy or taskforce but all other contacts provides u a snapshot with the info that its a ship and what course its running. U need to get it into ure own sensor/visual range to get further info and any results wont be visible in the map. During an attack or shadowing using this setting the map is only useful to draw in ure own conclusions. No hydrodetections and no shipinfo/icons are projected in it by the game engine.
Im sure only a very few hardcore players if any have map updates disabled. |
