^ when i saw "Kennwort Morituri" first as a kid i had no idea about the (different) backgrounds like WW2, decoy and auxiliary ships, personal preferences not necessarily matching nationality, and so on...; after seeing it as an adult i was astonished what a complex and well-made film this was

And Bernhard Wicki was of course one of the best directors of the 20ieth century..

All of the above.....plus, I feel Black and White Classic movies have a certain Abstract quality that Colour takes away.

Now and then I recall some scene from movies I have seen and in most of the time I just can't remember the title.

One of them was one I saw in my youth on German tv.

Two boats is sailing towards each other both captain is standing on the bridge giving honour to each other..then these two ships collide and these two captains keep on giving honour until the both ships have sunk and only their hats can be seen floating.

I know the movie was in colour I guess it must be from the 60's.
