I'm actually surprised at how smart the A.I. is. A group of bandits successfully actually truly ambushed me last night. They drew me into a small valley and guys came over the hill on the one side guns ablaze.

You do a lot of running in STALKER at least until you get your hands on some of the better weapons and armor then you walk briskly.

Figured that out the hard way yesterday.

I got sucked into a 30 minute gunfight with some bandits. There just happened to be 2 friendly Stalkers come by and lend a hand. Otherwise, I wouldn't have made it.

I have some decent weapons...but I need good armor.

One is a brutally effective weapon of war. The other, of course, isn't painted in red battle camouflage...

That was a Blood Sucker.Shotguns are useful against them.That is the first area you encounter them in.You really want to be careful from now on in unknown areas
because they will try to sneak up behind you and if they do that the can kill you in one hit.

You are still in the early part of the game soon you shall meet a Controller and you will then know what pain is.

They should call it the medical supply-sucker. I've got a shotgun...but I'd much rather just completely avoid those things if possible. I don't like that they turn invisible when they run. It wasn't hard to avoid this one. Until I had to kill it.

I ended up dying in the next room and I restarted. This time, the group of bandits in the next room come into mine and engage the thing while I hide underneath stairs in the dark.

I have to give this game a 15 out of 10 for the atmosphere.

One of the few games that keeps me on edge when I play...even in broad daylight while above ground. That was even a bit nerve-wracking.

Well slight spoiler here but you will find that in parts of the game you will have no choice but to fight tough enemies.Those Blood Suckers are less aggressive than the normal ones.Sometimes as well you just cant avoid a Blood Sucker especially if you are the only prey in the area.

That goes without saying....but stealth is my preferred approach here.

I'm looking forward to it...but I'm not.
