The boomslang snake’s venom causes you to bleed from all holes of your body.

The beeping heard during communications during the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo space missions is called a Quindar Tone.

It was developed by the Quindar Electronics company (hence the name) and was used to trigger remote transmitters around the world to transmit after the first tone and to stop transmitting after the second tone.

That is why conversations made by mission control started and ended with the Quindar Tone (if you listen carefully you can hear the different tone) but conversations made by the astronauts, did not have the tones. Why, well the astronauts only had a local transmitter -- the spacecraft!

By law, a pregnant woman can pee anywhere she wants to in Britain, even if she chooses, in a police officer’s helmets.

The butterflies you get in your stomach when you see someone you like is actually a stress response caused by adrenaline.

Wow, in the US things are a lot different. Here you have to go to "special clubs" and pay a lot to get that to happen.

uh, A friend of mine must have read about it on the Internets Tubes.

Our eyes are always the same size from birth, but our nose and ears never stop growing.

No, it is not true that the eyeballs are fully grown at birth. The eyes undergo considerable growth especially during the first two years of life, with a second growth spurt occurring around puberty. The length of the eye of a newborn is about 16.5 mm, while that of a full grown adult is about 24 mm.
According to the Chicago College of Medicine, eyes do continue to grow after birth. A newborn's eyes are about 75 percent the size they are going to be when fully grown well as growing larger. The optic nerve and internal eye structures are not fully formed at birth. Newborns do not respond much to visual stimulation, but they are able to track moving objects with their eyes within two months. In addition, a baby's ability to see clearly keeps increasing with age. At birth, a baby's eyesight is about 20/400, but it develops to 20/20 by 2 years.
The only human body part that does not grow after birth is the ossicular chain, which is composed of three small bones and is located in the middle ear. These bones are also the smallest lightest bones in the human body. Each bone is smaller than a grain of rice.

What is that feeling when you meet someone you owe money to? Adrenaline, right?

We have all seen the babies with big eyes and I was led to believe that the reason is due to that the eye's are already 90% of the size that they are going to be and that of course leads me to believe that human eye's grow very little from birth to adult hood.

However our resident researcher has decided that we are wrong ... do we need a second opinion?

The very first scanning of a UPC code was on a pack of Wrigley’s chewing gum. In the summer of 1974 a UPC code was scanned for the first time at a grocery market in Ohio. At Marsh supermarket, a 10-pack of Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit gum slid down the conveyer belt to mark the first ever grocery item to be scanned.

Russia didn’t consider beer to be alcohol until 2011. It was previously classified as a soft drink.
