Either that or you are using more water this year. Running water is 'not' supposed to freeze. But Niagara Falls froze twice this past winter.

If I had a comprehensive policy it would be covered. But, you can only buy what you can afford.

The only salvage yard around here is a U-pull it and they're bandits. Besides, pulling a door glass out of a junk vehicle is asking for trouble. I've never been keen on putting used parts on my sled. My dad was cheap that way and I refused to put used parts on his vehicles.
When you get used parts, you get used, hosed and raped. Then you end up making the same repair again. I'll be taking it to my local auto glass shop on the 18th. That was the earliest I could get an appointment so I guess mine isn't the only one that popped.

Most salvage yards prefer selling the whole component(door) and clips. A factory glass is out of the question due to obsolescence. The auto glass shop provides lifetime nationwide warranty. Seems the only logical choice for this repair. Eh?

That was the other option.

OEM is way too pricey.

Funny you should mention that. General Motors was always kind of pricey with their parts. Then they began importing them from foreign manufacturers, getting them cheaper but still charging domestic prices. Makes me wonder why they needed to be bailed out when the recession started. So they had trouble selling their cars but still made bank on parts.

Back in the day when one could actually fix a car/pickup themselves I ran GM's exclusively. 64 Pontiac, 2 59 Pontiacs, 65 Chev, I could get all my parts from the wreckers. (you need to remember that I had 6 Auto wreckers with 30 miles of me, plus all the farmers that always had one or two derelicts laying out in the field.) Parts were easy to get and easier to match up. Parts were cheap. Parts were also made in either the USA or Canada. Now the parts are made in Mexico or another third world country and they are expensive. I think Corporate greed is involved there, big time.

My money bailed out Generous Motors, but I haven't seen one thin dime of it back in interest. As far as I am concerned, I will never own another GM vehicle again.

My Jeep Wrangler has been really reliable and the parts are expensive, but when this one is no longer fit, I will get me another one.

I think that the only truly greedy ones there are the corporate management.

I don't see a problem with investors getting dividends on their money IF the company is making money. But if it is not, then why not cut the dividends a bit? It has been done before and companies have survived.

I've always been a GM guy. I was a GM Parts guy for close to twenty years. My first car was a Dodge and it was a rag. I've been driving Chevys ever since. Mainly because they are, or were, engineered with the mechanic in mind. Heck, even the weapon I carried in basic training was made by GM.

Every Ford I ever worked on made me cuss and throw tools.

Chrysler products weren't much better.

Chrysler products in general IF the dog pees on the tire, they won't start. The only Chryco product that has been any good to me has been my Jeep.

I will not buy any car/truck that hasn't been built in North America. Keep Canadians/Americans working, buy Canadian/American.

I used to get my GM parts at 'dealer trade', but that fell by the wayside when my favourite parts guy retired and I bailed on GM vehicles.

Only one day for skiing? Bummer!

Our snow had gotten solid enough to walk on top of it without sinking. Low 40's today has softened it a touch.
