I'm back, sorry I've been so long. Looks like Thomas to me, I went on him at York but he was only visiting.

Anyhow here's mine. I'm using phone so don't know how good it's going to turn out.

What is this? (bonus point for country, double if you can name the nearest town, triple if you can name the exact place using the British Forces colloquialism.)

Edit - looks easy to me so shouldn't take too long.

Well it is a Chinook I can tell that much the dust being churned up implies Afghanistan most likely from Camp Bastion Helmand province.Could be anywhere in Afghanistan within range of a Chinook but it is in the desert not in the hills that much is clear.
