An unclear pink beer with a thin beige head.A little sharp for me. Taste of raspberry. Not much awareness of beer. Not for me this one.

Flor de Caña rum
I found this today at Tesco... 40 % proof, £15 for a 70cl bottle. It's very nice too: smooth and not at all sweet like Lamb's Navy Rum or Captain Morgan And it's imported... from guess where... Nicaragua!!

An above average shelf lager not much aroma to speak of but definitely not chemical nice pour and nicely carbonated it's a sweet front end taste with a crisp back end.

Williams Bros. "Perfect Storm" IPA
4.5% ABV; £1.49 at ALDI
Moira pickedf this up for me yesterday... it's one of the special ales featuring in another of ALDI's occasional Beer Festivals Very hoppy, crisp and resinously bitter, it tastes very much like "Golden Crown" ale (see elsewhere) which I absolutely have to have each weekend now. I don't know how much longer this one will be around though, as it is after all a special 'guest' ale

Good beer, juicy fruit, and a little zing due to the extra carbonation. Lime and subtle apple flavour with a light malt and some good hoppy bitterness.

Innis & Gunn 'The Original'
6.6% ABV; £2.49 at B&M
Imagine a tankard full of liquid caramel with an alcoholic whiff and a head on it like Devon cream. Moira just described this as "The busty wench of beers" (and she should know)

Brewdog Elvis Juice
6.5% ABV, four for £6 ASDA An American IPA with a bitter edge that will push your citrus tolerance to the brink and back; Elvis Juice is loaded with tart pithy grapefruit peel. This IPA has a caramel malt base, supporting a full frontal citrus overload - grapefruit peel piled on top of intense us aroma hops.

Springhead "Robin Hood"
4% ABV; £2.20 at the Co-op ('Two for £4.00' promotion of local craft ales)
"A smooth, chestnut-coloured traditional bitter" it says on the label and this is what you get. A good refreshing beer, crisp and bitter enough but not too much

Perhaps odd that this should be stronger than 'Robin Hood' I did not like this at all: I don't know whether mine had gone off but it was very very bitter indeed, yet not in the right way. I ought really now to buy another and review it again in the interests of fairness (The pressed oak leaves in the photo are from the real Sherwood Forest, which is quite near here)

I've had both and fully agree with you, the 'Robin Hood' was by far the most enjoyable.

^ I left some in the bottle to try again the following day, just in case it was my taste-buds (you know how some days everything seems bitter)... same taste... too bitter
