The average motorist harbors the misconception that you can stop 40 tons on a dime. 60 tons in your case.

And 18 contact patches the size of football fields.

Those are the peeps you want to introduce to a split ring at 200 PSI...without the retainers.

A guy from Manitoba passed me the other day and when he cut back in on the two lane road, he left me with 1/2 a mini-van length of stopping space....the OPP was right on his donkey and pulled him over at the next wide spot in the road. Most likely the cop got him for speeding first and then just added up the charges after that. I didn't feel the need to stop and carried on.
A lot of tankers run on that section of road, (Thunder Bay,ON and points East as far as Sault St. Marie (on Hwy 17) and Hearst, ON (on Hwy 11) get their fuel from Manitoba, so the cop couldn't tell if I was loaded or empty, [my lead trailer was 3/4 full] therefore couldn't tell how fast I could stop IF I had to.) IF something had happened within the mini-van and he stopped suddenly, I wouldn't have gotten my foot off the go bar before I hit the van. And a cop as a witness. It doesn't get much better than that.

Man, what a week. Pump stopped working Weds, so had to spend a day in the OC waiting to get it fixed. Now stuck at a TA in Jacksonville, my engine has a bad injector and the Freightliner dealer is closed on Sun

Yeah, normal people get weekends off.

Aren't you glad that you're special?

On the one hand, I'm glad I'm not making the 21 day tours of the lower 48, but on the other hand...
I miss it.

I don't mind the 21 day tours (actually, I'm stretching it out to 25), it's all part of the job. But I am pretty tired of sitting in the truck at truck stops watching John Wayne movies. I wanna roll!

Actually, no itchy feet, but my right arm has been tingling like it's asleep for about a week now. First, I noticed the tip of my thumb had no feeling, and then it spread to my index finger. And a few days ago I began getting some strange tingling in my bicep. Now it's like my arm is asleep. Very weird! I'll need to see a doctor, if I can ever get home

Neal,

Don't wait till you get home. Get to see a sawbones ASAP. That condition doesn't sound good and you need to go see someone pronto to get it looked at and if possible sorted out.

Agreed. Those kind of symptoms can be caused by nerve compression or stroke both of which should be treated immediately.

Yes, by all means , get yourself to an ER ASAP.

I ignored symptoms while I was on the road and a month later I suffered a massive stroke. The symptoms, as it turned out, were mini strokes.
