Yes you just have to love them even though they modify furnishings etc!!

We have only one but that is enough, I have a Secret Lab Titan gaming chair that is awesome, but expensive, our cat has clawed the base and backrest!!

One day, my wife and I were startled by a loud crash coming from the kitchen. I walked in to find that one of our cats had jumped up onto the counter and, in so doing, had knocked a clay teapot onto the floor.

But this wasn't just any old teapot. I had brought it back from our trip to Japan. I had carefully selected it from among dozens of similar hand-made kyusu (Japanese teapots) at a little shop in Kyoto - and it was one of my most prized possessions. It now lay on the floor, completely shattered to pieces. I was so angry that I scooped up the shards, threw them in the trash and smacked the cat off of the counter as I yelled at her.

But, of course, my anger was short-lived. I soon accepted that the cat was simply being a cat - and how could I be angry about that? She didn't mean to do it. And how could I stay angry at such a sweetheart?

Unbeknownst to me, my wife retrieved all of the pieces from the trash and carefully glued them back together. She did a fantastic job and you really have to look closely to see that it was ever broken in the first place. Of course, I can't use it anymore ... but at least I still have it to remind me of our trip and of our beloved Lucifer. (My wife did pick a fitting name for that adorable little troublemaker.)

That was a nice tea pot, with me I would know it's broken and not be satisfied till I got a replacement (or near), looks like you'll just have to go back to Japan one day!! (good excuse)
There are a number of other things our cat does that are annoying like jumping on to my classic Ford car in the shed, so far no damage, but yes they are just cats having fun and being curious!!
Hopefully one day she will eat the mice not just play with them till she gets bored and let them go!!
