Skybird, just ignore those who make it sound like the virus is not as bad as it seems and we have little to worry about. If the experts are correct, this is far from over. That link to the article you posted claiming coronavirus could infect 60% of global population if unchecked was quoting a very respected Hong Kong epidemiologist. But I guess that matters little to those who want to stick their heads in the sand.

Who's being unreasonable? 'Unchecked' meaning if it cannot be controlled. If it eventually overwhelms the world's medical facilities despite our best efforts. I'm pretty sure he didn't mean 'if we sit on our butts and do nothing about it'. I'm not sure why some people always think this is an impossibility. Like modern medicine and technology is a religion that can overcome anything if we believe hard enough.

It probably won't become a worldwide pandemic which kills tens of millions of people, but there is always that possibility.

Number of reported cases just jumped up by 34% in one day.
Number of deaths shot up 23%

Guess with the WHO on site the Chinese Communist Party has to start more honest accounting.

Also, rather interesting that the mortality rate is also getting an adjustment.

I dont care for the laughs here, its the clueless ones laughing. If peopole would mind to read what the paper quoted this expert from Hongkong with, they could easily see that his comments are sober, reasonable and realistic, also the two priorities he outlined. Also, do yourself a favour and google his name at Wikipedia, for example. The man is one of the world's leading experts on pandemics containment policies and corona virusses, with an impressive vita. He is right, we now must check whether the strict policies run by the peoples republic have made a difference, yes or no. And if they worked, they should be used globally, because of the traffic patterns of travellers form China into the world, especially Africa.

The danger of this virus is not its lethality, there are more lethal virusses. The danger is that it is so hghly infectous. And the high kill raiton c omes from that: becasue even a low mortality rate means that in case of mayn infections a huge number of kills adds up.

He who can read, clearly has an advantage when all of a sudden being confronted by a non-complying newspaper article. It helps so much for understanding what it actually said.

No sensationalism and no hysteria in that Guardian report. Just sober quoting of a reasonable assessment by somebody who knows this matter probably better than most. Check his Wikipedia entry and then see if you can keep up with his qualification and experience.

And this just after the mainstream media proudly proclaimed yesterday that it appeared the number of daily infections and deaths had plateaued and were expected to start declining soon.

Dont get me wrong guys I just understood what you wrote differently I guess. Anyway, I do believe precautions are in order I'm preppin' like a crazy man as we speak. I just finished dehydrating another 15 pounds of fruit today and vacuum sealed a truck load of meat and veggies for the freezer. Now to load my black powder pistols and Im good to go. At present I can remain in house and not have step one foot outside for anything for at least a month.
