Good video a run down of the ships and submarines you saw in there:

Akula I Improved SSN
American computer modeled submarine
Typhoon SSBN
Aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov CV
Udaloy DDG
Sovremenny DDG
Delta IV SSBN
Zubr LCAC
Bora FFG
Charlie II SSGN
Ekranoplan

The typhoon is TK20 Severstal under the command of Captain first rank Alexandr Bogachev this footage was taken in 2001 on exercise in the white sea, this is where the TK20 fired the SS-N-20 in a test run.

Those Russian seas look awful cold, windy, and frozen. Loved all the Typhoon imagery. Wish they put more Delta-IV stuff on there. And a little more Udaloy stuff. I like the look of that Russky surface ship.

Those were some nice vids. I followed the side links to the other ones, he had a bunch of them up there.

Doesn't the guy in the intro look like "Silent Bob" from Dogma?

is it just me, or do the russians make their subs to look good surfaced?

The Typhoon is one BIG boat!

Typhoon specs

Length: 562 feet (2 feet longer then ohio)

Width: 86.4 feet ( the ohio is only 42 feet wide)

Displacement: 33,200 tonnes surfaced and 48,000 tonnes submerged (HMS Ark Royal in comparison is 20,000 tonnes, and the Wasp LPD's of the USN are 40,000 tonnes)

Weapons: 20 SS-N-20 nuclear missiles each capible of carrying 10 MIRV 520KT warheads due to SALT treatys this has been reduced to 250kt (ohio carrys 24 missiles of the trident C4 and D5 veriants)

8 x 21inch 533mm torpedo tubes for conventional and nuclear torpedos, as the submarine is designed to operate under the ice only she is not able to fire the Skhval or tube launched missiles

The submarine has two seven bladed propellors driven by two OK-650B nuclear reactors giving total out put of 100,000SHP.

Surfaced top speed is 12 knots submerged speed is greater than 25 knots (submerged speed is classified).

Diving Depth: over 450 meters (true depth is classified)

Some random facts:

The typhoon is so large it is not able to enter the thames at any point

There was plans for 24 typhoons to counter the 24 ohios but only 7 made it into construction

Typhoons can operate alone and are not designed for open ocean deployment as you saw in Hunt for red october.

The typhoon carries enough fire power if fully loaded to destroy every major city in the northern hemisphere.

Typhoons ar the front line submarines for this reason it is rare to see them without any nuclear missiles in thier silo's even when laid up at the pier.

The SS-N-20 has such a vast range that the typhoon's do not even have to go to sea to strike targets as far away as china and america.

The typhoons rudders if put together would have the same surface area as a 3 storey house.

The two propellors are 18.5 feet in diamiter, these props are larger than the main propellor on the titanic.

Its rare also to find a P3 or Nimrod photo graphing then due to the fact 95% of thier missions are under ice fully submerged most video footage and pictures come from the russian navy themselves.

Only countries that have are Norway and sweden.
