How would I know? We Americans have killed off almost all of our buffalo.

We just about did that to the kiwi. Now there main enemy is predators. I always thought the buffalo was a protected species in the USA.

It is now, but the population hasn't even near recovered from the buffalo killings of the 1870s and 80s. Once the white man came to the West, in the early 1800s, the Buffalo were destined for near mass extinction. The pre-1800 population was somewhere in the two-digit millions. When the US Army tried to kill off the Buffalo to starve the Indians, the number fell into the hundreds. They have now brought the population up to somewhere in the 4,000s.

Apparently the buffalo has recovered enough to begin selling it commercially. A pound of buffalo burger sells for about $4.00 down at my local Stop n Shop. Quite good too.

From the Chinese word "Chai"? Which forms the root of the country too, in english in any case. I think.

I don't know the answer to that... Us Americans just use it interchangebly. But surely, the Bison in the burgers aren't actually... real. Are they?

Sure they are. They go for about four bucks a pound at my local supermarket. Farm raised of course.

Of course the bison meat is real!

What else would it be? A radioactive, cancered McDonalds all beef pattie with extra seasoning!?!?!:rotfl:

Yes, I found out that in North America we have got it all wrong! The American Buffalo is actually a Bison....A Bison is actually a completely different animal than a Buffalo even though they are in the same family group.....And there never was any real Buffalos in the US....They are only in Africa and Asia.

Guess it's time for America to change a few names?!?! How's about Bison, NY instead of Buffalo, NY??! The Bison Bills football team??

I tell you, them Indians lied to us, General!!!!

Getting back on topic, i like tea, especially Yorkshire brand when I can get it.

Our local supermarket also has begun stocking PG Tips. While not as tasty as the Yorkshire it does make a pretty strong cup of tea.

My choice for tea is Lapsang Souchong. Very black, very smoky flavor. Best served with honey and a shot of cognac or single malt scotch in it(the latter is the best). Regarding Buffalo/Bison. I just saw a fairly large herd on the Jicarilla Apache res outside Dulce this weekend. I have both butchered and eaten buffalo meat. It is the best. Lower cholesterol and much leaner than beef , plus more meat to the carcass than beef. I butchered one for a friend a few years back and got close to 1100 lbs of meat from a 1500 lb carcass. Also, we had to save every scrap of fat we could find just to give the ground buffalo enough body to hold together. My fee was 50 lbs of steak and burger. My one regret at leaving Colorado was that you could buy fresh-cut buffalo steaks at the King Soopers markets there. My choice for the tenderest cut is the hump meat at the top of the shoulders. Yum Yum, better than cheese.

Bullalo is quite tasty, and MUCH MUCH MUCH better for you than grain fed, injected with god knows what junk beef/poultry they sell in the supermarkets. It's too bad it's not more readily available.

There's a buffalo farm about 2 hours from where I live, believe it or not. (I live right outside Washington, DC.) It's down around Charlottesville, VA. I haven't driven down that way for a while, though, so I don't know if it's still there. Pretty cool though, I really freaked out when I first saw it.
