I "play" for the authenticity of the simulation. I could care less if I sink one ship, 100 ships or no ships in a patrol. To me, a 100k club or 200k club merely turns this into a gigantic pinball game. The ones with the highest scores get to have their names on the pinball "hall of fame".

There's really no way, I don't believe, that you can make the "rules" the same for everyone. You could say that you have to get 100k in one patrol with your realism at 100%, but how do you verify that? You can have the log to show the 100k, but what about the realism level? I could get 100k in a patrol, prove it with the log, and claim I did it at 100% when it was really only 25%. I merely make the patrol at 25%, rack up my high game score, then take a screenshot of the realism screen AFTER I've reset everything to 100%.

But, to each his/her own. If high tonnage scores are what it's all about to you, knock yourself out.

I'm here to enjoy myself in the middle of the North Atlantic while I wait for some unsuspecting supply convoy, thank you very much.

Nothing more. If I don't sink an ounce of shipping on a patrol, then so be it. The thrill is in the hunt, not how much I bagged. Just this landlubber's $.02...
Same with me.

I wouldn't object to such a club, but it would only be feasible if we agreed on several things first:

-type of game you play (stock, NYGM, GW, RUB)
-no tweaks to config files (levelling the playing field for all participants)
-100% realism and DID (otherwise the save/load option will ruin it)

Those are the absolute minima. However, no one can verify whether cheating, reloading or tweaking has occurred. Therefore I find the whole system too prone to rigging, and consequently of little added value. I just don't see this happening in an encompassing and fair manner. What does it really mean anyway?

I have a lot more respect for the kaleuns who sail their Type IX's or VII's in GW and return alive with 20,000-50,000 tons at 100% DID.

P.S.: depending on the era, commanders did sometimes accumulate 50,000 to 80,000 tons. Of course those missions were usually carried out by Type IX's hunting in distant waters where few convoys were organized, and ASW was lacking.

Kind regards,

Eichenlaub

Curious how this topic rears its head from time to time. Its almost cycylical :hmm: It popped up almost immediatly after release then just about every 4 to 6 weeks thereafter.

Anyhow enjoy the game as you wish.

Have fun and enjoy the club if you want. Personally I feel it would detract from my game experience and cause me to play in ... ummm.... un natural manners.

If it turns some folks cranks, let them have their fun. I haven't come anywhere near that ammount myself as there seem to be too many duds, and I limit myself to 60 days at sea maximum time, as food stocks would be depleted by then. Unless I can find a milkcow of course, but since most of the torps are steam powered, I don't care to use them much. Especially later in the war when a steamwake will give your position away.
