The real sad part is by the time I get enough money they will be gone.
I doubt they will be gone. People still want them. Just not as popular as LCD. I think I'll pick up a Samsung sooner or later, but I'll try out the dual monitor situation at home for a while. Everyone I know has dual monitors already anyway, so might as well.

So I wonder what would be better.

Viewsonic p225

or

Samsung Syncmaster 1100 MB

The Samsung is only $452.00 and has a 3 year waranty too.
Now you have found something that is rare and something I would like to know - who has a review of CRT's anymore? :hmm: :hmm: :hmm:

I went back to the old 19 inch used Sony i got donated to me by a customer and that lasted for nearly 3 more years (for a total of 8 i think) before it finally gave up the ghost.

Now i'm using a Samsung SyncMaster 930e which, while smaller, has really good color depth to it making it as easy to view as the old 22 inch (when it worked).

I can't find any reviews on CRTs.

In looking at the specs between the samsung and viewsonic, it would appear to have the edge over the Viewsonic. The Samsung is almost $150 cheaper too.

Viewsonic P225 about $600 shipped.

Dot pitch .21 Horizontal
bandwidth 350 MHz
Max resolution: 2048x1536 @ 79Hz
1600x1200 @ 99Hz

Samsung Syncmaster 1100 MB about $450 shipped.

Dot pitch .20 Horizontal
bandwidth 360 MHz
Max resolution: 2048x1536 @ 80Hz
1600x1200 @ 102 Hz

Another option: Philips 202P70 (22 in). I don't have one, but I have a 6 year old 17 in Philips that still works well, and has good image quality. The specifications on that 22 in look pretty good too, still getting 80 Hz at 2048 x 1536 and relatively compact for a 22 in. Reasonable power requirements too.

All good to know. THe Samsung seems to be on the top of the list spec wise. I just really wish stores still carried these things so that I could go down and have a look!
