As my SHIII is atm limited only to WaW, I have to answer yes. And to add my personal WaW rule; I have only 2 'lives'. So If I die two times, it´s over for me. No more WaW. I just finished my 3rd patrol and I have to reconsider the rule. I was rammed by DD and my HI was down to 25%, then got bombed by RAF and HI went down to 21%, not to mention I lost one crew member. RIP Bootsmann Herbert Kriegel.

Oi, sorry mate! Been a tuff patrol eh! It can be rather disturbing, that in the early patrols one can get so beaten up!

Maybe you should consider takin' a desk job! Or go out there an show 'em who's boss!

DiD no matter what.
My reasoning?
In real life nothing was fair so why should I expect this to always be fair.
When I start making any excuse at all I lesson the simple fact the real a Kaleun could not redo, fair or not.

I know the feeling.

I also always start in 1939 and for awhile I could could not get near mid 1941.I was dead before the USA ever entered the war.

Now some time later and alot smarter in my playing I can live for alot longer now before dying a horrible death.I have yet to see the end of the war though .

The game does cheat my last patrol I took out the AS convoy (42-late43)out of Port of Spain Took most of it out apart from 1 Somner class dd and a Trooptransport, the rest were toast the game respawned the p/liner twice and twice I sank it it said "Enemy unit destroyed" I even seen her sink NO CREDIT a bit later same thing happened again shelled her first at around 3500m them fired a fish at her "enemy unit destroyed" no credit again so why should I play DiD and this is GW 8 fish in total fired on a liner an no credits for it.

A couple of my more painful DiD memories:

U-189, IXC:
11 patrols (627 days at sea), Boat lost august, 1944, on her 11th patrol.

U-518, IXC,
8 patrols (515 days at sea), boat lost in may, 1944 on her 8th patrol.

I have killed more u-boat crews than the entire British and American navies did.

Well U313 a VIIC was just lost with all hands after 5 patrols and 4 ships sunk..

U506 a IXC has had her shake down cruise and around 2/3 of the crew have been assigned their speciality and she has been painted with the med camo and will depart shortly on her first war patrol.

When I started to play I did reloads - when torpedos were poorly aimed, when I was detected while testing the limits of surface attacks on convoys... - now I see this was very helpfull to get a feeling for the limits.

With DiD it is far more demanding and exciting: Like W@W I like to pick a historic kaleun (like in my sig) and see how I will fare compared with him.

In my W@W career it is the same and even more exciting because I am part of a community and when I die it has more impact than only to me.

As for the game cheating on me: Yes, when I ram the dock at the S entry of the Kiel kanal at high time compression I do a reload - even when the captain did take a nap the watch crew did not turn blind.

At the beginning of my SH3 playin, i played the game like every other game.

Meaning; if i got DC'ed to death i did reload. If i missed some Shots at a Tanker or such i did reload too.

And i warped to port everytime!
I was thinking how cool i am as a Kaleun. Ya know, high tonnage, and 15 and more patrols. However...

But later i understood that it isn't that easy, and i started to play this as a Sim, in the real way.

Today...well I rarely last more than 2 years into the war! Doin' the 'DID variant is more taxing but also more rewarding!

I remember a 3 hour real time pounding and my boot got beaten up real bad! That was when i was close to despair, I never thought I'm gonna make it, but imagine the joy when i survived and surfaced later!

Way back i wouldn't bother! I would just reload! I would even reload only because of an DC that got lucky and got me realy good!

Playing it the hard way? No...Simmin' it the real way!

Sorry guys, but I don't play Dead is Dead because of my poor health. I want to finish the war. If I do, then I'll begin an new career and go Dead is Dead and see how far I can get and see if I learned anything.
