Or maybe one of the archives is broken, these are the correct file sizes:

178.751.648 TGW11a-1.bin
179.300.000 TGW11a-2.bin
179.300.000 TGW11a-3.bin
179.154.367 TGW11a-4.bin
547.845 TGW11a.exe
Tried that with same result....

So the file is apparantly corrupt from the Grey wolves download?? Or is it a problem with the Game file

Either that or your system doesn´t like the installer. Redownload the files...

Did you delete the SH3 folder in My Documents? That's where all the campaign info is stored.

How about the SH3 folder in "My Documents"?...there is a SH3 folder in there in addition to the one in Programs.

When the installer installs a file, it performs a checksum comparison against that recorded when the file was first added to the installer (ie when I compiled it).

If the checksum differs, you get a message stating that the file is corrupt. With LZMA compression, if one file gets corrupted, then every file after that point becomes inaccessible (even though subsequent files may not be corrupted). It's a side effect of getting super-small d/l files.

Basically, your d/l of TGW11a-1.bin (at least) is corrupt. Have you compared the file size of your files to those outlined by Gizzmoe? If they differ, then this is definately the problem...but also remember that even if the byte size is the same, it does not mean that your files are OK.

This may seem frustrating now, but with the "old" installation method you wouldn't realise you had an installation problem until your game CTD...and then you'd spend hours tearing your hair out trying to find where the problem was.

BTW, I can't speak for any alternate d/l locations, but the files available at Subsim (which have the file sizes as quoted by Gizzmoe) are NOT corrupted. To be sure I just d/l and tried it (ahhh Subsim host plus fast broadband = )

That´s not quite correct. Only when you use the Solid Archive feature (stream compression) the files become inaccessible, with normal compression all files, except the corrupted files, can be unpacked.

There´s basically no difference between the old and the new method, both give you an error message if the archive is broken.

That may be, but at least correcting the problem is much simpler.

That's not my understanding with LZMA compression - but I only use solid compression anyway. Perhaps it depends somewhat on the compressor/decompressor?

Yes, but you're missing my point. Under the old method, there was no individual file checksum comparison. The archive might be ok due to various reasons, but if any file within was "not as expected", or did not install as expected, you wouldn't necessarily know.

BTW, with both GW website threads in the same forum now, perhaps this one could be closed off?
