I've only tryed the demo.
The graphic engine is not it's strong point but i loved it anyway.
I'm really looking forward for april, when the game will be released on the store here in Europe.
And finally i will command a surface unit, one of my long-time dream

And so what ?
Doesn't mean that SH III is a "better" game than DW.
In any case posting in the silent hunter 3 section and asking which is better doesn't make much sense since the majority of responses will be biased.
The same thing would happen if he posted in the DW section.

I've got to agree with Goldorak even because it seems from the posts that people "voting" for SHIII have not even tried the DW demo (...but I may be wrong, of course ...)...

And anyway, whatever game "wins", will not change my opinion and enjoyment of the game...

Now keep yer' socks on Guys: lol

It's just about taste.
Not bashing DW or SH!
SH3 appeals more to me because i'm not hot for nuclear Sub sims.
The sterile hi-tech factor in modern subs is way big and a put off. Since the modern warfare is far more impersonal than the old. I love it that my WWII sub is all me, crew, machine and oil.

And as for big manuals and i've been there with Falcon 4.0. (still am!) I don't think i will ever invest so much time in learning like i did way back as a teenager with Falcon!

I just love the whole people in a "steel coffin" feel. Fighting against all odds in their primitive sub!

Like i said before...its all in yer taste; and by the way you simply can't compare a WWII U-boat sim with a modern one. ITs like youcompare Red baron with Falcon!

Peace.
Out!

Regarding SH3 vs. DW:

An anticipated matchup that ended in controversy. SH3 was able to mount an early scoring drive following an excellent return on their opening position, but DW did answer with a pair of field goals (28 and 42 yards). DW threw a costly interception in the third, which was run back 38 yards for a score, but a fourth-quarter field goal and TD run on fourth-and-goal ultimately brought them victory; although it is still unclear if the back's elbow hit the ground before the ball crossed the goal line plane.

Final score: 16-14. Good game.

That would also have a positive influence on my buying decision as well, provided the ensuing thermo nuclear war was done properly by the game (lots of drama, chaos, carnage, and all beautifully rendered graphically).

Graphics are the last thing DW has going for it, just look at Gamespot's screenshots. It's all about gameplay and getting the feel of the stations right.
