Assuming for the moment that everyone with this issue is using the Milk Cow mod, I'd say that's probably where the problem lies. The Milk Cow mod will almost certainly impact the way the patrol grid assignment changes (or in this case, the way it doesn't change). This is one reason why the milk cow mod is not used in RUb or SH3 Commander (even though, on the face of it, it's a positive improvement to the game). The fact is, the milk cow mod has a fundamental flaw, in that it is trying to accomplish something that the game simply isn't set up to do. The milk cow mod uses a 'work-around' solution which works, but which has some negative consequences in terms of the way the game records patrols.

The milk cow mod may be fun and popular, but in my view it causes subtle but significant problems with careers and can never be made to work seamlessly with the game.

The same thing happens in April and July 1944, again in 1st Flotilla. Same in January and April '42 in 7th Flotilla.

One thing is for sure, if you have days spent in base set to 1 (or a very low number) and you go out on patrol on the first of the month, then come back on the 14th, then go on patrol again and return on the 28th, you will have a very good chance of getting the exact same patrol grid three times in a row.
Beery, you may have nailed it here. I am using IUB 1.02 at the moment and it does include HT and Milchcows, and I do have days in base set to 1. I have been extremely lucky of late, catching convoys on my way to AM14, using all my fish quickly then RTB.

Actually, it just occured to me that I never made it to AM14 on any of these patrols. I seem to remember the unmodded game I played many months ago would do this too. If I didn't reach my assigned grid, I would often get the same one next time.

I'm thinking as I write here so bear with me. In my case I believe it was a combination of not ever getting to my assigned grid and perhaps forgetting to cycle emblems or otherwise dally in port for the proper time.

I didn't mean to contribute to a witch hunt, l was just trying to be helpful. I wasn't trying to accuse anyone's mods of anything, I haven't done that in months. Not since I wrongly speculated that Sailor Steve's sound mod was causing my CTDs. It wasn't, and I apologized for that. Not that I ever intended to be accusatory in the first place, I'm constantly grateful to all you guys for your work and your help. Bitching about anything would be pretty childish IMO.

My problem is that I am down to a very few functioning brain cells and my memory isn't what it used to be. Hey, can you guys come up with another fatigue model? One for my headpiece, compartment efficiency is getting pretty low up there.

Cheers,

JBC

Come to think of it, I remember this too...Gee, quite a while ago I must add!

I think you've been more than helpful on this one. This is great data to work with. Thanks!

I don't think anyone here is accusing SH3 Commander. You guys are just wondering where the problem could be coming from. It's only natural to assume that what causes it is the biggest, most game-changing mod. I don't take such things personally, but it's important for the authors of the mod to make clear why we think SH3 Commander probably isn't to blame for it. This could be seen as us being defensive, but what it is is just us doing what we have to do - removing speculation from the issue so that we can talk about all possibilities and thereby get to specifics.

A big problem is that a lot of people who sit on the fence about mods read threads like this and get the impression that all mods are bug-ridden abortions. It's no one's fault that they get this mistaken impression. It's just the nature of the beast. When people are using 10+ different mods in their game, weirdness is likely to happen. Such weirdness may not even be caused by any single mod - it may be a combination of mods that causes it. In any case, when multiple mods are in use, any problems become harder and harder to pin down. This is why mods like RUb and IUb exist - to try to reduce the problem of combining mods. Unfortunately, however big and inclusive a major mod is, it still doesn't stop folks from adding even more mods to the mix.

sorry i´m arribe late to the post

here are the mods that i have installed

rub 144
harbour traffic for rub 144 with milk cows,
16 km of visibility.
sh3 commander last version installed over the previous version

my base is wilhelmshaven , started at october 1939 with two patrols in a VII boat.

in the two patrols, always i reach the grid destination and stay during 24 hour before return to base.

sorry by the tittle of the post, because is not sure that is a mod bug, Rub or sh3 commander

perhaps a incompatibility , a bad instalation or something. :hmm:

where is the patrol gris assignment ?? i see that in the patrols_0.cfg file there are three patrols

[PATROL 000]
[PATROL 001]
[PATROL 002]

I have recently installed SH3 Commmander and RUB 1.45 using the JSGME application....I haven`t tweeked anything to speak of yet but now I`ll be watching the grid assignment generation closely...I find the installed Mods really great and apppreciate the effort.

Thank You all...

Hartmann....you did change months but not grids...hopefully Beery can help...
