There's a crescent moon in the Scapa Flow mission that rises at about 5am. The Gibraltar mission has a half moon that rises at about 10pm.

The moon reflection thing is quite weird. If you use the low version of my camera mod, which uses 25 FOV for the external view - the moon reflection shows up. At the game's default 70 though - nothing. I never figured out why...
It means that the moon size is smaller with the camera mod but it show moon reflections ??

there is a post about the moon and has nice screenshots of the moon reflected in the water.

With a 25 FOV the moon should take up a bigger proportion of the screen. A lower FOV means things appear larger.

a kind O.T. but...Sergbuto, while working on the periscope reflections, could you try to fix the snorkel too, so that it will make a visible trail?

Probably because you're basically doing what the binoculars do - giving a lower FOV makes things bigger on the screen. I guess the real question is: why would they implement a moon reflection only at lower FOVs? I wonder what the highest FOV is where the moon reflection appears?
Wrong.

The Fov zoom-in itself is irrelevant and not the cause of the moon appearing to reflect suddenly. What happens is that the game has an LOD system for reflections. When far away, a "low-res" system of reflections is used. When up close, the "full version" is used.

How the game decides between them is related to the fov which fools the camera into thinking the object is closer and the LODBias settings which are kept in some cfg file - sim.cfg I think, but I can't recall exactly right now.
