Yes, I Know SL was bought (by MS, ).
And yes, I'm enjoying all platforms (obviosly I have preferences, as all human beings). Sorry if you misunderstood me, my fault.

I think we have in our hands one of the most sophisticate Sim of the last years, that pushes the concept of "electronic battlefied" to their far limits.
This to make you sure that I, as you all, LOVE this game.
OT: And with LWAMI's mod is lightyears more enjoyables (IMHO).

Quoting you about the priorities of SCS. They are clears like glass. We all readers of this forum know them.

What I (and others around here, I see) hope is that if AFTER ALL SCS objectives regarding DW has been met (retail version and patch(es?)), it would be not bad if they release "expanson packs". We all expect this NOT happen (this game i getting old... but the SCS request to modders to not develop a SCU-like sistem keep hopes alive). Well, in case SCS will develop them, people can decide not to buy them. It is so easy!

Well, If this thread about whishes make sombody lost patience, just skip it, no?

And now I want a playable tugboat too!

im a big fan of expansions. it makes a game seem new again. and I would love to see some for DW.

you could have either just pure platform expansions, such as an entire expansion just dedicated to the Lada class. for example.

or you could have campaign expansions, which come with a new campaign that features one or two new playable platforms.

example: Blockade of Hokkaido Expansion.

The breakaway Far Eastern Republic of Russia has launched an invasion of the Kurile islands. In order to prevent the JSDF air force from interdicting the Russian air support, commandoes have raided Chitose airbase and crippled the Japanese aircraft there. The rogue Russian fleet has cordoned off the northern approaches to Hokkaido and intelligence indicates that SSBNs loyal to the separatists have deployed to thier 'bastion' positions in the Sea of Okhotsk.

Take command of Russian, Japanese or American air and naval assets. And lets say each country present gets one new playable platform.

Russia: Udaloy II class DDG.
Japan: Harushio class SSK.
United States: Boeing P-8 Multi-mission Maritime Aircraft.

now wouldnt that be the ****take mushroom? one ship, one sub, one aircraft.

subject says it all. what can the community expect? Cant sonalsysts throw us a bone and make downloadable new playable platforms? Clearly most of us have all shown we can use a credit card online....nudge, nudge, wink, wink
The world is not perfect. There are always unhappy peoples. SCS could make 100 playable platforms, you will always find someone that would like 101.

oh come on! I im really not asking for 100 playable platforms. im asking for 5-8 more, tops.

I really dont think im being greedy here. this game has expandability potential. Im the type of gamer who plays games like Flight Simulator, Falcon 4.0, and those games have excellent add-ons going on.

ok, I know that FS2004 is made by microsoft and has a far greater following than DW, hence its robust modding/expansion community. But, I think either SCS should make new expansions or allow modders to make thier own. If sonalsysts doesnt want to do the legwork, then let the modders do it. Why did so many people buy legit copies of Halflife and Halflife 2? For Counterstrike mainly, a mod originally from the community.

Simulations need this. look at what has kept Falcon 4.0 alive for so long. its things like FreeFalcon and F4-SP.

Illegal mods i might add, and the falcon 4 community didn't increase during the dark years but stagnated.
Is that what we want for dangerous waters ?
What keeps alive simulations are not illegal mods but a community, if nobody buys what is the sense of having mods ?
Thats what scs is trying to achieve with the retail publishing, more people buy, the more it is cost effective for scs to produce add-ons.

i'd be willing to back down from the 'new playables' soapbox if we could even just see a new database edit. With a few exceptions, DW uses the same database from Jane's Fleet Command, circa 1999.

The naval field has seen so many developments since then, particularly in Chinese and European navies.

alot of the info on these newly deployed or soon to be deployed systems is available from public sources.

Lada class, Type 212/214 SSK, Astute class SSN, Scorpene class SSK, Borei class SSBN, Severodvinsk SSN, Yuan class SSK, type 52C (aegis) destroyer. I could go on and on.

naval warfare has alot to do with technology, it is the cutting edge of science and engineering in warfare. All im saying is someone should do it. either sonalsysts, or someone else with thier blessing.

Just wait patiently, as we all do for the 1.02 patch to become available and then the DWX mod will start.
