Default Onealex for GWX

I did install Onealex briefly but it ran at about 4fps on my ancient laptop! It was very painless as all the files needed are in the download.
SH3 Commander is also very easy as once it is running it asks where the SH3 files are and is not at all picky about where it lives.
GWX has one big drawback for me in that I think someone who knew about modern ASW was involved, so the escorts' passive hydrophones are too good for the period. The escorts are "laser guided" as soon as you hit a target and your ability to move is very restricted, but the escorts very rarely ping without first making a passive detection so early in the attack if you stay quiet they often pass straight over you without finding you.

PS did you use the external camera on the whale factory ship when you sank it? Best feature of GWX!

I'll try to go through it tonight or tomorrow seeing as I've got pretty good hardware (128GB RAM *subtle flex not subtle*) and check it out. I'll follow the manual as closely as I can.

As for this I'm not sure. If you mean the F12 external camera that you can move around then yes. If GWX has its own external camera then no, I dont even know about it.

Yes, F12. You didn't look properly. Did you see the whale wriggling on the deck of the whale factory ship? Well....

I got Onealex set up pretty much, but I even though I have lowered particle density to 80% and also checked the Hsie options (Diesel damage fix IS unchecked) I still got a crash to desktop about a minute after loading into the patrol for the career the first time. Second time I loaded it seems to be ok, I saved in the middle of the sea away from everything and will check the campaign files now and make the necessary edits.

Also, I noticed that several textures are missing and just appear black. Namely the ones I noticed in the brief time I was out until I got to my save point are the 3 torpedo knot charts, the BdU station, the radio message station, and the Patrol log station (where you see when you depart and what youve sunk). In the last 3, some text is visible.

On that note, I also noticed that when selecting year/flotilla the background is also black, but I can select the year and flotilla and proceed that way. The flotilla descriptions are missing.

Any ideas why that could be? Did you experience anything similar when you tried it out?
