Speculation:

How would USA have developed of they were a part of the British Empire until, let say after WWII ?

Just exchanged one set of tax collectors for another. July 4 is perfect, a couple months after April 15 so you forgot how much you paid the government.

Over here up North flavored soda is called 'pop' and down south it's called 'soda'
I've even heard a few refer to any flavored soda as 'coke'. So you need to know what they normally drink.

Beer is referred too by some as a Barley soda.

Reminds me of the time I went into a roadside diner with Neal and asked for chips with my meal before being told it was fries I was after
