Now that was a textbook definition of an open goal there.

Word here is that FIFA investigations unearthed TWO more Goals from Germany against Brazil
I do not care about soccer...At least here. Now in Europe it's another story.

So if you're a pilot and thus reasonably employable, why are you still living in Brazil? Do you have a masochistic streak by chance?

Been an expat for 3 years in Asia. I am just waiting the right time (and the right Brazilian dame) to leave for good. I already know where to go. Most of the Airlines here are loosing pilots to Middle-East and China. I do not advise to go to China because my problem there was eating a good meal. Besides I need to buy my own place here before leaving. Yes, I intend to return but as a retired happy old man. Working in Brazil is a lot different than living as retired (with $$$). Regarding the crime rate Brazil hasn't reached the level of worse places like Venezuela but unfortunately I believe that in less than 10 years we'll get there unless there is a big change in politics. One of great places to visit here is definitely Chile. It has a great future. Good food, peaceful. Planning to visit someday. USD is 4 to 1 against Brazilian currency! Imagine going to a Burger King and paying $50 for a Whopper Combo. That is reality for Brazilian tourists in the USA and Europe.

I read that the waters in which the Olympic rowing and other such boating based events will be held is loaded with all manner of nasty things and that in North America and Western Europe such water would be considered raw sewage.

How does one even begin fixing Brazil? What needs to be done?

Eradicate the government, find able and untouchable politicians (hahaha), then clean up the executive-wing, police, BOPE, ... they are all corrupted killers (well, too many of them).
After that, actively fight poverty. If you can get the kids off the streets, you lay a foundation for the future.

But this won't ever happen.
Money is everything, not only in Brazil, everywhere, we all know that.

So... that is the end of the story, I guess.

That is true. No denial.

Lula going down is a good start. Or we are invaded by China. Whichever comes first...

I´ve just came back from Brazil (Lagoinha, north of Florianopolis Island).

As always, a beautiful place, crammed with friendly people. Love the country and the attitude of the people.

I remember two years ago Brazil was "on top", planning a SSN (well, this is a submarine themed forum...), leading the region. Now, Brazil is "in the bottom", plagued with corruption. Still, the people in the street have the same smile...

Yes, they have the zika. But they have also insect repelent. And they have not so good water. But they have also mineral water. I have a really good holiday.

And yes, we are in the Third World. But it is not a big deal after all. I fully support Brazil.

Regards!

PS: Well, yes, about being Football king´s...

Hope you had a great time. Lots of folks from Argentina there. You know what I meant by "the right dame". Tough to choose!
Yes the SSN program is screwed up. :-(
