I beg to differ Russia lacks the freedom of press that you see in the west so expressing your opinion is at best questioned and at worst can get you in jail.So some Russians like him because they are not aware of the truth others like him because they benefit from him being in power.

The gap between the rich and poor is massive in Russia much more so than in the west.Bottom line is that most Russians are too busy just making it day to day to really have the time to contemplate how good or bad Putin may or may not be.

The Russian government is quite skilled in propaganda so much so that they put the time and effort to have an entire network that focuses on Americans that dislike their government(Russia Today).

Of course we sit here and talk about Putin when our country is far from perfect.

Seen that way, he possibly is a lesser evil. And the weakning of the West, Europe and America alike, is achieved by the West all by itself. Putin, China, Iran just accept the generous invitation to push for more.
