The veteran US sub Seawolf is believed to have been sunk by the destroyer escort U.S.S. Rowell in October 1944. No record of a Japanese sub undergoing an attack at that time exists.

In addition, the sub Dorado is thought to have been sunk in the Caribbean by a patrol plane after being mistaken for a U-Boat. She also may have been victim to a U-Boat or a minefield lay by one.

GRAYLING on June 7, 1942 at the Battle of Midway dove after being harmlessly bombed by a group of B-17s. They reported that they had sunk an enemy cruiser.

DORADO (Schneider), en route from New London to Panama was sunk by friendly aircraft on 12 October 1943.

SEAWOLF (Bontier) was probably sunk by friendly aircraft on 3 October 1944 in the southwest Pacific in the vicinity of 2o 30' N, 129o 15' E.

On 26 July 1945 a B-29 dropped a full load of bombs on SEA ROBIN (Stimson) missing her by half a mile.
