Except that's not what caused it. Rampant deregulation, irresponsible securitization and poor decision making by the Fed is what caused it.

And offering up a loan to anyone with a pulse.

To me, it was one big cash grab by realtors, banks and mortgage brokers. Why not? It is all backed by the government.
