Have you tried putting the changed values from the torpedo mod you are using into TMO's torpedoes_US.zon.

Well, of course I have to put the 25%+torpedo damage last or else TMO would overwrite the Torpedoes_US.zon file

Plus the water disturbance file is called
TMO2_fix_for_TDW_DC_Water_Disturbance_v2_0_SH4.dat

The file type is different and description is different. How can it overwrite the torpedo damage mod and vice versa?
Think he was stating it as a possibility, just compare and make sure what files newer mods overwrite.

But where is the TMO2_fix_for_TDW_DC_Water_Disturbance_v2_0_SH4.dat in the above? I don't know the details of these mods and do not use them, but the CTD's you describe sound like the problems people reported with this one. My guess is that if you leave out either TDW_DC_Water_Disturbance_v2_0_SH4, or the 25%+torp damage mod, you will eliminate the crashes. In other words they don't want to play well together.

The TMO2_fix_for_TDW_DC_Water_Disturbance_v2_0_SH4.dat was inside TMO2.5/data/library.

So now I activated ONLY TMO2.5 with the following changes:

>removed water disturbances mod
>replaced default TMO torpedo_US.zon file with 25% torpedo damage file

Result: shcollisions.dat crash.
If I replace the default TMO Torpedo_US file back in TMO2.5 the game no longer crashes. The problem is clearly the torpedo mod. I just don't get why it worked before formatting my PC.

Update!

This time I removed TMO2.5 and only activated the torpedo mod. So basically I just replaced the game's stock Torpedo_US.zon with the modded one and now it doesn't crash!

So now there is something in TMO2.5, which along with the torpedo mod causes the crash. It's not the Water disturbances mod because I already ruled that out

I'll tweak the TMO2.5 and try to find which folder/folders are causing the issue

Update number 2!

Lucky me, at 3rd attempt I found that the TMO2.5 Library folder is causing the crash. Without it the game runs well along with the torpedo mod. Now to find the specific file that causes the error.

@Domanating, I have to say that your detective skills are coming on leaps and bounds.

Hehe, thanks Moonlight

Here's update 3!

I decided to put the Library folder back in TMO but this time I removed every file with the name "Torpedo_US" on it, except the .zon file, which will be overwritten by the torpedo mod.
The files that have been excluded are the following:
Torpedo_US.dsd
Torpedo_US.sim
Torpedo_US.dat

With these changes The game ran without any crashes. That meant that one of those 3 files or all are causing the crash.

After a number of tests I was able to rule out the .dsd file, leaving the .sim and .dat files as the possible culprits.

Apparently the 2 remaining files cannot be separated or else the game crashes during loading of a mission. So I'm unable to identify which one or maybe, if both files are the cause.

The problem has been found! Now does anyone know what and how those 2 files affect the game? I think the .sim file is related to duds and torpedo failures in general. But I'm not sure what the .dat file does.
Any help for this last question would be appreciated and I won't annoy you anymore, at least I hope

P.s: Tomorrow I'll test with all mods and see if the issue has been definitely fixed

It looks like you are zeroing in on the problem very effectively.

I apologize for pointing you toward a dead end.

The game works perfectly with all mods activated!
Concluding: The errors were caused by TMO2.5 "Torpedo.dat" and "Torpedo.sim" files

The only issue now is the annoying flickering during night time but I guess I'll have to live with it.

Thank you all for giving your time to help!

Don't bother, m8. The number of possibilities for errors and crashes are endless in the PC world.

You sacrificed some of your time to help. That's what matters

Sorry to hijack this thread but I found this through a search because I have the same problem but ONLY with the Mark-10 torpedo when it makes contact. It will crash the game every time. The Mark-14 doesn't do it.

Here is my mod list:
Generic Mod Enabler - v2.6.0.157
[C:\SilentHunterIV\MODS]
1_TriggerMaru_Overhaul_2-5
1_TMO_25_small_patch
RSRDC_TMO_V502
RSRDC_V5xx_Patch1
Easier AI for TMO 2.5 by Orpheus
Webster's Improved US Torpedo v3

I am confused about your last few posts and how you were able to fix it.

I was going to start by removing Webster's mod but then it almost looks like you found something else wrong with the TMO mod.

I will start removing mods one at a time I suppose.

EDIT: I've re-read the posts and it appears that I should just remove the "torpedo_US.dat" and "torpedo_US.sim" files. ?? Or should I replace these with the original files? I hate to mess up the game especially moving around files from a mod.
Anyone else have this problem and if so how did you fix it?

Jeff

Replacing the two files as indicated above with the originals (I just renamed the files from the !BACKUP folder and copied them over the TMO files) appears to have fixed the problem. I no longer get the CTD when a Mark-10 torpedo hits its target.

No idea what could cause it lol.

I'm guessing that it is because Webster's mod was made to be compatible with stock, not TMO.

The game is very fussy about these things; any incompatibility in the sim, and dat files can cause a crash. It doesn't take much.

I understand what you're saying so I've decided to restore the TMO files and remove the Webster mod and see how things work.
