Oh absolutely! Many a vessel was lost at sea during storms, and man were damaged while docked too.

Haven't had any issues with them running decks awash, in fact just the opposite, with 6 to 11 foot waves, they aren't as high as stock waves, and can be rather anti climactic. They just kinda ride up to the top of the roll, and slide down the back side of it after. Even the subs rarely get decks awash now during stormy conditions, and harbors seem to be a bit more calm now compared to stock, and the wave / enviornmental mods.

Just wish we could tie the wave direction to the wind direction, but that's out, and reduce the "waves hitting you from all sides" like they do here on Lake Superior, Huron and Michigan. The open ocean tends to have them going roughly the same direction since the water isn't contained in a small area like the big lakes.

You still playing with this Hylander...

These are some I was playing with as you know, but I finally tweaked to where I have more of a swell effect. It's easy to get nice large waves, but as I said last we talked, who wants 60-100ft typhoon waves under blue skies....

I wish there way a way to connect the larger wave patterns to storms only, but I can't figure it...ANYONE KNOW HOW...errrr

If you make your waves too large they can easily sink ships docked in harbor banging them against dock walls.

Yeah, still messin' with it. Mostly now though, tweaking the subs and ships so they ride the waves a little better. They were riding too high through the low end of the waves, with keels exposed sometimes.

I am getting there though! So aside from the pitch and roll effect by adjusting the GC (gravity center) in each vessel's sim file, to get them to pitch and roll a little better (hopefully) too.

Agreed though on the giant waves under conditions that are too nice. As for traversing through typhoons, I wouldn't do it, even if the only way to the objective was through it. They're too dangerous, and could and probably would damage the sub in one way or another.

Wave height and its shape is also defined in sim.cfg... look above.

So even with the strongest winds the game allows, the waves should only be roughly 6 to 11 feet tall, which isn't much for the ocean going vessels in the game.
...
Ocean. Wave height, depending on the wind ... and the length of the acceleration path of the wave:

... for example: wind V = 15 m/sec, acceleration path = 40 km... Wave height = ~2.1 m

Could you translate the Russian onto English please? It would make it a little easier to understand.

The grandparents refused to teach the language of the old country to us kids, so we really missed out.

Default Anvart--

For the ballistic missile submarine, see Russian submarine K-84 Ekaterinburg.

Yekaterinburg (English)

Coordinates: 56°50;N 60°35;ECoordinates: 56°50;N 60°35;

Ykaterinburg (also romanized Ekaterinburg) is the fourth-largest city in Russia with a population of 1,398,889 (2012). Yekaterinburg is situated in the middle of the Eurasian continent, on the border of Europe and Asia. (Must be cold in the winter!)

Yekaterinburg is the administrative centre of Sverdlovsk Oblast and the main industrial and cultural center of the Ural Federal District. Between 1924 and 1991, the city was named Sverdlovsk, after the Communist party leader Yakov Sverdlov.

Internationally Yekaterinburg is best known as a city where the last Russian Tsar Nicholas II and his family were executed.
