Hobbit Trilogy is Confirmed:

Quote:
Ladies and gentlemen, it's official: The Hobbit will be three films rather than
two. Peter Jackson took to his Facebook page today to announce that the
story will be extended across three films as rumoured recently.

Three films???? What for? It's "The Hobbit" for Pete's sake, not "War and Peace." How come Hollywood only hates capitalism when other people practice it? Sigh. I just hope that speeding up the frame rate gets the movie over quicker, too.

The movie will be shown in 24fps as well as 48, so one can always see it in the "normal" format if that is preferable.

I wonder if this change to 48 fps will cause interference patterns with floodlighting in the theatre running at mains power of 50Hz here in Europe. You might see a little flickering of 2 Hz in your peripheral vision. In the US and other places the mains frequency is 60 Hz, so the frequency difference would be less noticable.
