Google Plus user Though I have one but can't seem to stick to them for to long I need a good reason to log into these social sites daily or weekly even. I'll leave my Google+ active and hopefully when my life gets exciting I can start adding to it.

The problem with sites like I mentioned above is that Steve and some others are wrong when assuming they were in control of what they do with their data. The problem is that they not only collect much more data then you peopole usually are aware of and establish prfiles that can commercially be turned into a product they sell to other companies (the more complete this profile, basd on user statistics, is, the better, and things like faces, names, asdresses, tel-numbers are just an additonal bonus). The problem is that they even deceive their users and lie to them about what they can prevent the service to do, and in rerality it is just a fake button or -function and while you think you have forbig this or that, in reality they just carry on. The probvlem further is that the younger ones you do not know a world without these networks are educated to be totally un critical and undistanced to the practices these service maintain in the hidden, and that young people are that way becoming used to not care for privacy and data protection at all.

German federal police and German federal office for data protection are warning against companies like Google and Facebook for their explcit record of data protection violations. In several European countries and I think also Canada and Australia currently court cases are being run against Google for having intentionally breached according law.

These companies claim the right to accumulate an ammount of data about your everyday life habits and customs that surpass everything you accept your natiopnal polcie and intel services to gain about you without a judge formally allowing it. They claim the right to breach valid laws and to lie to their users and to deceive them. They claim the right to turn you into a product withz which they make money with you never being asked, being left in darkn ess as much as possible, and also not being considered for sharing the profit they make with selling you.

It takes a great ammount of intentional naivety and simplification to simply ignore all these ^ implications.

Reece, banking data you place at Paypal first are an obkject of attack for hackers, talking of financial crime. Paypal is attractive for hacker's attempts because it is so lucrative a treasure it has to offer. But the actual reason why I boycott them was their obedient submission during the events around Assange - behaviour like that I really take queer, and I keep a note in my memory on it. Is Paypal comfortable? Yes, no doubt. Is it worth the risk? No. And nobody, after the many data scandals of the past four years alone, please nobody tries to tell me that it is just paranoia, and completely unfounded. You either have lived in a parallel universe or are already suffering from Altzheimer if you think so indeed. I also do not like the way how ebay, the inventor and owner of Paypal, has started to enforce this payment scheme for its business to make additional income from the payment procedure at ebay itself, and I also do not like how they have turned the whole platform there - but yes, Ebay that is a completely differfent story, just wanted to mention it.

FB can only be a problem for you if you let it. I have connected with old friends when growing up and all my college buds. Use it as it was intended. Furthermore, what site is better for stealing PW than FB? Millions use it. It's like a Walmart of PW's. A dime a dozen for those looking to hack. Create strong a PW.

Just as AVGWarhawk said, it depends how you use it.

Use it correctly, it is a communications tool. You have contacts that you don't loose if someone changes a phone umber or moves far away, free message sending, free data sending, free image server (I use FB to post images on Subsim), hangout on a cold winter evening when you're too tired to actually go out.
Just don't post personal info. No account details, no actuall adresses, photo's of your car with the licence plate visible or worse, photo's of your cars valuable stereo and info where you hide the control plate.

I don't trust facebook and I realise I am the product here, that's why I make myself a product imposible to exploit.

I can't understand a bloody word you put on there!

As for a secure password, just use asterisks - they'll never think of that, or the word password, or 12345678 like mine for subsim.com

I use Facebook with caution. I'm aware of the risk (including those Sky mentioned) and therefore limit what information I put to there. Because of that I would like to know how Fb knew to recommend my doctor to be my next best friend?

I could give you 99999 reasons why facebook sucks but I won't. I will just give you one example, from my own experience, which made me embark on "the anti-facebook crusade".
Up to a point I did not perceive FB users in a way that I see them now. I just treated them without any bias, the usual way you treat dumb pathetic nerds having nothing better to do than posting their 200 photo collection of "how I combed my hair". You know, these with balls play Mafia (or w/e it's called), and sissies play Farm. I was against all this mess but I did not show that.
Ok, so once I went for a drink with some girl from another group. I knew that she's a FB users, that she used to have an account in a Polish version of FB, and in general, she was fond of similar dumb projects.
After the usual intro-chat about the university we study at, I said smth like: "I don't know" for what she said "Oh, I forgot you don't have Facebook, you are so non-technological...."(i don;t have a cell phone neither but that;s a whole different story). It was like a slap in the face+ "You're a loser"
Ofc things went bad for me...and I was burdened with a new life-time task. Since that traumatic cold February afternoon, I hold a burning torch of an anti-facebook message saying "wake up, freaks".
I treat it as a kinda discrimination and bullying of these ppl who decided to live a peaceful life without saying the world "look, here I am, and here is my ugly face", who decided that they don't need 500 contacts to fap at, who don't need to boast of their new toaster or dildo, who don't find amusing the fact of humiliating others by calling them non-technological only bcoz their de-brained heads can type in facebook.com.
Well, yeah, I drifted a bit from the "why I don't trust FB" topic but I hope that what I've written can compensate for this. That's how I see all this (Jewish)madness (after all Zuckerberg was one of the creators).
I'm waiting for any counterbalancing posts like:
-Yay for Facebook, I found my daughters (actually they found me, bcoz I was too lazy to do anything to find them)
-Yay for Facebook, I found a new BDSM group, I can spread HiV in the rest of laender (a German word, meaning a territorial unit of Germany, bcoz of a Bird which I had in mind while writing this(lol))
-Yay for Facebook, it gives me the impression that real people like me.

Ofc it's a trap. The more arguments you give the stronger my point that FB is a place for ......(no more low blows) becomes.

Disclaimer: this post is to be treated as an ironic one and non-offensive as no real users (lol) were the base for highly fictional characters and events mentioned in my post.
