Interesting you say that. I was a big fan of Deadwood but I always felt the second season was quite weak in places to the extent I didn't watch the third season for a long time afterwards.

Rome was wonderful. It was my understanding, though, that the decision to not make a third season was taken after a large part of the set burned down therefore rendering a very expensive show even more costly. I know there were plans for a movie too but it seems to have gone very quiet on that front. Oz was brilliant for the first season or two but last time I saw the show there didn't seem to be anything more to it than endless prison rapes.

Pretty much. It stars British actor Ian McShane as Al Swearengen (something poetic about that name) and Timothy Olyphant (Justified and Hit Man) as Marshall Seth Bullock, with a great first-season continuing guest role by Keith Carradine as Wild Bill Hickock.

A great little bit with Seth and Bill.

It was good. I saw most of it, but I'm not really into westerns, preferring equally odd shows like Showtime's Dexter.

The Wire is another good HBO series many of the guys that wrote stuff for OZ and some actors in OZ are in The Wire as well.
I thought Deadwood was pretty good as well for the most part.Rome was better if you ask me between the two.

Could have been my usual luck in jumping in during a bad part of a bad season.

That in itself is a problem with a lot of modern shows. They are meant to tell a broader story, and jumping in anywhere can sometimes leave you wondering just what's going on.

I'm a big fan of the Supernatural series, love it! Good guys hunting demons.
