Anybody tried? Is it any good? I liked the Sniper Elite game, but even on the hardest difficulty settings its too damn easy. Few people actually enjoy a game where you find a dark place to lay down, and wait for quite a while before you take down your target, but... I LOVE IT! Yes, playing Thief 3 now for the first time. For the people here that like Thief series, I would seriously recommend Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. You can play different roles in the game, one of them is as Steath Assassin, with rope bows, bows, daggers, and all in some huge castles and scenarios, I think I finished the game as an assassin about 10 times, never played the other classes, lol. Thinking about it, in all first person games I always tried to be assassin, in all shooting games I always was a sniper. I loved hitman and I love Silent Hunter. Maybe I'd addicted to steath?

I have played trough Thief 3 several times. It's a good game, but I still prefer Thief 2 out of them all. Can't say I'm looking forward to Thief 4, as I have somewhat lost interest in the series. Will definitely read the reviews and consider buying it if the game turns out to be good, though.
As for Hitman series that were mentioned, I too recommend Hitman 4. It's light years ahead of the previous games in the series, though 2 and 3 are very good too. My only gripe is that they can't seem to find the balance in the difficulty. Hitman 4 is ridiculously easy. In most levels you really don't need to work much to get the best rating. Just grab a guard's uniform and 99% of the time you're all set. Though that's just the easiest way: the game offers many variants and ways of getting the best ratings, but sometimes it just feels pointless. On the other hand, in 2 and somewhat in 3 the guards are way too paranoid. A similar, though less well known stealth game I remember, is Death to Spies. It's quite difficult and occasionally annoying, but my memories from a few years back are good. It's probably also pretty cheap by now, so I recommend at least giving it a look. And when it comes to sniping...call me weird, but the only game where I have even remotely felt like playing a sniper is Far Cry 2. It's the only game where I remember using a sniper rifle from somewhat realistic distances. If such situations appears in other games these days, they go along the lines "climb into this conveniently placed tower, read a tutorial message about using a sniper rifle, shoot the bad guy, climb down and continue playing Rambo". Sigh. Far Cry 2. If only it had the modding community and potential like Silent Hunters do...

Problem with Far Cry 2 was that the sniping was not at all realistic (no wind or bullet drop).
For me the best sniping was always in the Delta Force series (1, 2, & Land Warrior). That game did have drop and wind and the like, along with adjustable scopes. You could snipe at ranges over 1 km. |

But that could be said about many games.

I dont think the issue was with lack of interest in modding the game, but that the game doesn't make it possible
