"Something else". As much as I'd like to see a good sequel or redux of most of the titles listed, I don't have much faith in Holywood's ability to deliver. Their abilities in Arnie-suitable films have been inadequate as of late, imo.
More importantly, his lapse of screen presence has created both a problem and an opportunity. The problem stems from the fact that he is older now and likely facing a different situation in the industry now. Things have changed while he was gone. Audiences who have watched the listed titles will be faced with a much older and likely differently-directed and envisioned Arnie character than they are used to seeing. The opportunity comes from the ability to re-brand himself with a new role and become the face of a new franchise. Cast him as a...hmmmm....I don't know. What's a good role for a beefy, grey-streaked guy with an Austrian accent? I was going to suggest a grizzled space marine vet or something but somehow that doesn't seem to work. Any thoughts?

Spot on, that's really the nail on the head there, the actor may well be fine but if the script is ****e or the plot is ****e, well, it's all a waste of time really.

It will be interesting to see what Hollywood will come up with, and indeed Arnie, obviously he will need to agree to whatever is going to be put in front of him. Edit: Actually i did find this: Rumors abound that The Governator is plotting his big-screen comeback and the current buzz has him taking a long, hard look at 'With Wings as Eagles.' The project, which has been floating around Hollywood for over a decade according to Empire, was penned by Randall Wallace. It focuses on a German soldier in World War II who disobeys his commanding officers in order to rescue POWs. Wallace has long wanted Schwarzenegger for the lead, saying the actor would still be a perfect fit "well into his sixties." Schwarzenegger, meanwhile, is acknowledging that he's not the young man he once was. "Extreme fighting and shooting isn't possible for me anymore," the actor says. "In the future I'll need to pick my roles according to my age. Clint Eastwood did it the same way. In With 'Wings as Eagles' I would play an older soldier, but the script still has all kinds of adventure." Schwarzenegger might not have the acting chops of Eastwood, but it seems likely that he'll find a niche for himself in the business that will keep his fans happy. Plus, Schwarzenegger did demonstrate a talent for comedic roles – given the right supporting cast. Maybe he lands some roles in those kinds of films. It isn't guaranteed that 'With Wings as Eagles' will mark Schwarzenegger's return to the big screen since he's also considering two other unnamed projects. Details on those haven't been revealed. He's too old...What's he going to do?
Throw a zimmer frame and walking sticks at the bad guys from his scooter along throwing a bottle of pep pills as he rushes off to hospital for a tummy tuck.

I'm not knocking Arnie's return to films but I just feel he should make films better suited to a man of his age. Come on Arnie you done action films try something new for a change.

I'm against sequels in general because of their tendency to suck. When I worked on the movie "Junior" (1994) and saw Arnie step out of a black Mercedes, puffing on a stogie, I was struck by the power of the man's presence. If I were developing a project for him now, he would be the villain, not the hero. Villains are often the more interesting roles, and it's easy to picture Arnie as a corrupt mogul or an organized-crime boss.
Arnie doesn't fit the typical leading-man roles anymore, but as a character actor, he has a great untapped potential. I hope his agent & manager recognize this and guide him accordingly.

![]() He's not one of my favorites. If Hollywood wants to make a good action flick, they should find someone new. The constant need to get a big 'star' for a movie, betrays a weakness in story-craft, IMHO. |

old actors that are still doing well in their careers
Robert De Niro Dustin Hoffman Jack Nicholson Tommy Lee Jones Clint Eastwood Sean Connery and Kevin Costner which I might add the only good movie to come from Costner was Dancing with Wolves. The movies he made after that were just bad B grade flicks imo Im sure Arnie will have no trouble making a come back as an action hero as long as they dont try to make him over the top Mr muscle running around like a 20yr old. Conan the Destroyer sequel he would fit the role as the veteran barbarian sitting on his throne contemplating on who to destroy next. He'll be saying these famous words to little conan junior: ![]() Fire and wind come from the sky, from the gods of the sky. But Crom is your god, Crom and he lives in the earth. Once, giants lived in the Earth, Conan. And in the darkness of chaos, they fooled Crom, and they took from him the enigma of steel. Crom was angered. And the Earth shook. Fire and wind struck down these giants, and they threw their bodies into the waters, but in their rage, the gods forgot the secret of steel and left it on the battlefield. We who found it are just men. Not gods. Not giants. Just men. The secret of steel has always carried with it a mystery. You must learn its riddle, Conan. You must learn its discipline. For no one - no one in this world can you trust. Not men, not women, not beasts. Steel, this you can trust. ![]() |

Yep. He turned down the offer to play Henry Jones sr. in the fourth Indiana Jones movie, saying "Retirement is just too damned much fun".
