Least its not a plastic Batarang this time. I wont be getting the collectors edition. So long as the DLC is free like it was with AA, I'm a happy man.

Eurogamer review:

If it's lacking something, it's surprise. Arkham City has nothing that beats the first game's brilliant unveilings and fourth-wall mind-tricks (although it has a go at an equivalent) and it can't trump the central, crucial realisation that somebody had finally made a Batman game that was enriched by its license rather than subtly crippled by it. Instead, though, you get refinement: better bosses, slicker animation, and more to think about on a second-to-second basis.

My local gamestop was having a midnight release which I was going to sleep through, but my friend kept calling me because his local gamestop was having trivia questions and he needed my help. So After Being woken up I decided why not go to mine. Ended up getting a shirt, a poster, and a card to download part of the soundtrack for free, plus I now have my collectors edition.

If anyone wants the soundtrack card I'll give away the code, I don't need it as the collectors edition comes with a sountrack already.

I'm currently in the processes of downloading all the skins/etc. That I got for pre-ordering and buying the collectors edition, but soon I will be the Dark Knight.

Edit: I'll also be giving away a free code to stream the movie, as my copy also comes with the movie.

Batman: Arkham City Arrives 18th November

On PC that is, in the UK (all of Europe at that I suppose). Comes with fancy DX11 trickery.

Little torn on it... no doubt I'll be completely consumed by Skyrim at that point. Guess I'll pick it up at Christmas or something, maybe just hold out for the inevitable GOTY/Complete edition... with all the flaky DLC and retailer-exclusives going on that might actually be the most interesting version to pick up anyway.

Precisely my thinking as well. I doubt I'll want to tear myself away from Skyrim. Steam may have a deal on it around Christmastime. I'll probably pick it up then.

I've got my copy reserved at my local game shop who have it cheapest around. Love em. Anyway I'll post impressions in the morning after logging a few hours in game tonight. I can see my life disappearing for a couple of weeks if I get really into it.

Watch this post!

Alright against my better judgement and to my detriment. Its now 2:23am local here. Arkham City is brilliant. I'm still coming to grips with the combat system again as they've added a couple of new moves to bats arsenal. The city is easy to move around in once you get used to it. The one thing that's really disappointed me so far is how badly Warner have blown the launch. Alot of gamers are having trouble activating the Catwoman DLC that's bundled with the game, myself included. Others are having trouble maintaining stable saves. Apart from that little hick up, everything that asylum did right, city does bigger and better. Now I better sleep or I'm going to be next to useless at work in 5 hours

Ooh, fancy Physx particles in addition to the DX11 trickery: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011...-about-batman/

Bit much perhaps. Like the smoke effects a lot though.

I have to say, I rather enjoy the game.

The first part of the game, and what happens in it was unexpected in a good way. I don't want to give away too much without spoiling the start. This game really makes you feel like you're Batman in a living world.

I liked it.. but I liked the first one better. The story was better the Joker was really out to get you and constantly taunting you. In this one he gets sort of put to the side so the others can share the spotlight but none of them are the star that he is so they can't really pull it off.

Everybody else is just sort of filler, Joker is the real star, he has all the lines, and he is the one that always gets you excited to finally kick his ass for all the smack he has been talking to you.

The main story line is WAY to short. I could have breezed thru this game in one sitting, I beat it in two casual nights after work. Tues, Wed, beat. I spent the rest of today wandering about the city collecting tidbits to get more % complete. That screams SHORT story to me.

Drew I agree with you, but I'm enjoying the mix of villans that city has on offer and the fact that not one really stars apart from Joker, because at the end of the day its really Hamill and Conroy that are selling the game to me.

I'm also getting a bit fed up with Warner Bros burying their heads in the sand and not fixing the Catwoman DLC for everyone, but thats a minor complaint as I feel the game is really about Batmans story and not Catwomans.

And there's Nightwing DLC available in the US and EU PSN stores. Still waiting for it to hit the Region 3 PSN store. Should've bought it from the EU and not from a local supplier who sourced from Singapore.

Nightwing should be an interesting character as he's the first Robin and now current Batman in the comics. And it might convince me to hang out in challenge mode more than I have been. Sitting at 76% overall game completion for myself at the moment.

Though I'm really holding out for the Tim Drake (3rd Robin, current Red Robin - again in comics) DLC at the end of November.

I never played the first game and I only bought this because it was on sale over Christmas.

Wow, I'm glad I did. I can't remember a game like this I enjoyed more. It's awesome. I'm about five minutes from hiding in the cupboard so I can jump out on people and growling 'I'm Batman!'

It looks beautiful, the combat is great fun, and all the special moves and gadgets are superb.

I'd love a follow up with a sandbox Gotham to roam around in, rather than just the one (admittedly large feeling,) area. I'm sure the idea has already entered the developers minds already.
