Default My opinion on the "reported attack site"

Paranoid people survive better on the internet. That is a fact.
So now i will discuss every possible conspiracy theory regarding the "reported attack site"

1. Subsim is an attack site, and Neal did it
Since Neal is the boss, some of you will probably suspect him. Sure, he could easily attach a Trojan or Virus to subsim, but why would he do it?
Subsim has been his work for many years, he would not destroy this great community just for the petty change on your paypal accounts anyways.
Although he could do it, I have 500% faith in him that he didn't do it.

2.Subsim is an attack site, and I hacked it to turn it into an attack site
First of all, if I did attach a Trojan or Virus to subsim, why would I still be here?I should have stolen your passwords and be long gone.
Subsim is hosted on a Linux based system running a vBulletin forum system. Which means that if Neal manages the site well, than it would be very difficult to hack. Anyways, if I am doing this to steal passwords or money, why don't I embed a Trojan on a bigger forum? Since after all, hacking bigger vBulletin based forums won't be any harder than hacking Subsim. and lastly, this is my facebook page:http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001035136448. I have a life outside the computer, I simply cannot afford to spend tens of hours figuring out how to hack Subsim.

3.Subsim is an attack site, and jimbuna or frau kaleun or Takeda Shingen or Dowly or Sailor Steve etc (some other member of Subsim) hacked it to turn it into an attack site
First of all, why would they?
Second of all, subsim is a tight community, and you probably know that they do not have the ability to do it.
lastly, what would they have to gain by ruining subsim? Its not like there are tons of naval simulator forums.

4.Subsim is an attack site, and some other random hacker hacked it to turn it into an attack site
Lets just say, some random hacker is testing his/her skills, or want to steal passwords, or to create a botnet. Why Subsim?
Lets just say some hacker just developed a method of hacking vBulletin forums. what he/she would probably do to pick a random target is to enter "Powered by vBulletin" into google, and hack the first forum that comes up. Subsim doesn't even show up in the first 5 pages. And if the hacker is looking for a bunch of potential targets, why not hack some other forum with more members? Or if the hacker is looking for a challenge, why not hack Antionline.com?

5.Subsim is an attack site, and Ubisoft hacked it to turn it into an attack site
Sure, our modders make silent hunter a better game than the stock version. Ok, maybe we complain about DRM. But there are tons of forums on the internet that provide mods and complain about DRM, why hack Subsim?

6.Subsim was hacked by some creepy stalker sociopath
Ok, sociopaths are generally very smart. they wouldn't be caught by google. He/she would have thoroughly planned everything out, we won't receive a warning.
and anyways, what are the odds?

7. Subsim is not an attack site, its simply google screwing with us.
why would google do it? they have nothing to gain and everything to lose!

My opinion: the warning is probably just some mistake or blunder. There is nothing to worry about.

And you had to do a new thread for this because..?

Right. Bunch of people had trojans when they visited Subsim week, two ago. That is most probably the reason why the site is now flagged.

Next time, please read the posts related to this issue.

Thanks for your views on this

I agree with you that the most likely cause is some kind of mistake. But still, what mistake would cause something like this, and how can Neal correct it?

That's why there is such a thing as bumping a thread. There was no need for a new one.

Which is why Neal put a special announcement at the top of ever single forum.

Yeah, right Mr. l33t hack0r! I am pretty sure a guy who posts "secret" fake ID infos in a public forum - which gets visited by (google-)bots every minute - has the skills to hack it.
