Install JSGME into its own folder on the root of C:\. Do not install it into program files x86 or otherwise. I simply use C:\jsgme and everything is fine. Same thing with SH3, of course; all of this avoids hassles with Windows access. When you get into installing mods, the general advice is to only do so while in port, almost never at sea. Some things like sound mods are alright to install at sea, but the safest bet is to do it all ashore. Always carefully read the readme files with each mod as some of them require additional installation procedures, especially SH3 Commander with GWX. Always ask here if you are unsure; we're always willing to help.

You seem to be starting from 1942.

That's a real hard way to learn. That's like going skiing the first time, with no instruction, and tackling the intermediate slopes. You'll be bruised and battered, and won't know why.

Start in Sep 39, when the war starts, and work your way up the the realism ladder. You will get killed a lot, but.... And I see you are adding GWX.... for that, you will certainly need to start at 1939.

and you're not alone with running into land.

I once lost a boat in Kiel harbour due to plotting stupidity, by the time I came back from making a cup of tea, everyone was dead.
Shortest career ever.

Aye many have failed to adhere to the navigation channel when leaving port and sailed into a defensive minefield

Select the outbound key and immediately stop the engines (they will start up automatically)....now give the order to follow the waypoints.

No he plots the waypoints into the land of the Kiel canal. Ill just manually move them I guess. like its not that it keeps going straight or anything he plots through the canal. just when you zoom in. you can tell he plotted through the land near the canal.

That should not be the case...but if it is, simply plot the waypoints manually

One thing I have found - the Kiel Outbound pre-plot ONLY works from the original docked position. So I tell the WO to go All Ahead Slow - pop into Nav - hit the Kiel Outbound - then go to the bridge and watch. If all looks good, once I round the docks I go to All Ahead Standard - wait a bit - and if all is well THEN go to TC - which I have set in SH3Cmdr to 128 max "Near Land".

Otherwise, I maneuver to the start point myself and then plot the whole thing out manually - which does seem to work out better in the long run.
