when i was a kid my rents came back from germany with 2 signs for our garage doors. One of them, of course you know why i remember it, was Ausfhart Friehaulen! or something along those lines.

I always used to chuckle at the signs in front of our Post Office on base in Germany. The signs were telling you not to back up to the post office windows if you were going to leave your car running. Nicht ASSPOOF lol.....or something like that

I'm patrolling the Western Approaches. Fuel's OK. But I need to know how many km I can travel at so many farts to make sure I have enough gas to get back to base. I've run out of farts at sea before, and I tell you, it is no fun to be sitting close to home with tons of shipping to your credit and to have run completely out of farts. U-Boats later in the war had more and more farts didn't they? Culminating in the XXI which could do like 17 farts while underwater without even leaving a trail of bubbles at the surface (one might ask with George Carlin--Where did the farts go?). One shudders to think what might have happened had the Germans had that many farts at the beginning of the war.
