Default The Corrientes is a nice ship but...

...I really don't want to sit next to her for 25 days.

After a very successful patrol that took me to grid CF and then down west of Madeira to patrol the shipping coming north out of Freetown (burning through over 1/2 my fuel and all my eels in the process), I docked at the Corrientes to resupply for more action and then the trip home. This was on Feb 4 1940 in-game.

I hit Exit Patrol, Dock At Corrientes, and exited the game. Updated my personnel file and reviewed my patrol log in Commander and then went into options and told it to set days in base to 1.

But when I reload SH3 and my current career, it keeps showing me as In Base Before Patrol with a patrol start date of Feb 29 1940.

Do I need to go back to the save I made as I approached Las Palmas and re-dock at the Corrientes to end the patrol a second time in order for the "days in base: 1" to stick? Does that have to be changed before one ends a patrol for it work when the next patrol is started?

Altho I did take some damage in a convoy attack and I think my hull integrity is down to 75%, is that adding so many extra days to my time in base that it's starting at 1 and adding another 20+?

Is there a way I can go into my career files and edit them manually so I still end up with a start date of Feb 5?

Default patrols

Go to your SH Commander Options, select Career Options and go down to where it says "Set number of days spent in base" and select how many days you want to spend there when resuming the patrol or even between patrols. Every time I need re-supplied from either a supply ship or Milch Cow I will go to SH Commander and set it to 1 or 2 days. If I return from a long patrol I will set it at 21-40 days between active patrols while IN base. You can set this at whatever you want. I rarely let the game "decide" how long between patrols or re-supply stops.

As noted above, I've already reset it to 1 day in base. The game is giving me 25. I think it's because I arrived at the Corrientes with less than 80% hull integrity and the game is adding days because of that; I don't know if Commander overrides that or not, but I suspect it doesn't.

So what I need to know is, are there career files I can edit manually to "backdate" the patrol start date, or is there a way to temporarily alter the game files controlling how many days in base are added due to damaged sustained on patrol?

i have no idea if you could manually change the date, but if you do, wouldnt it screw with commander and the dates would be incorrect on it from then on?

I don't know. That's why I'm asking.

I've edited career files to take away the medals that SH3 awarded me that (historically) I wouldn't have gotten and it's never been a problem.

But I'm looking at career files and start/end dates and number of days in base appear in so many different places that I don't know where to begin.

I wonder if it would be easier just to change hull integrity back to 100% at the end of the last patrol and see what happens.

it "normally" take 1 day,Try to use Silent Hunter III (GWX) to re-back the days in port, but before go in to cfg/basic files to change days in base to 1,and start again.

Okay well I found I still had career files from another GWX install that I was testing mods with... so I was able to open those files and looked at where the relevant info appeared and figure out (I think) everything I had to edit in the current career's files.

Did the edits and reopened Commander which showed me at a non-home base about to start a patrol, with an in-game date of Feb 5 1940... loaded the game and it started up with me preparing to leave the Corrientes on the desired date. So, so far so good.

I personally think the Corrientes is a lovely ship!

Don't diss her. Its like dissing my Pregnant sea cow.

Oh, how I love 250 day patrols.

I use stock SH3 with no Commander program. Can you tell me which files you would edit in the stock game?

Thanks
