Guys, just to compare to my issues: can you please describe what happens? Do you get a notification that no internet connection is available or something else?

I just tried it and connected fine so the problem is probably your end.
When you uninstall the game make sure you also delete the folder C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher so when you re-install you get a fresh version. the games uninstaller leaves it behind.

I just tried it (I'm in the UK) and I connected fine.

Could it be that one server is down?

Yep, did that. Also deleted all registry entries for the Ubi game launcher.
I am assuming the problems I am having are not the same as the latest posters because I cannot connect for several days now.

Could the problem be with my ISP? Maybe blocking some ports or an interconnect problem with their peering partners?

Connetion problems can be many many things, it would be neraly impossible for anyone here without access to your computer to troubleshoot it.
It's very highly unlikely that it is with the UBI servers though. I for instance never experience this, and when folks start reporting no connection I start mine up and it gos right in without any problem, in fact I've only failed to connect twice since I installed SH5, once after I did a system restore and it messed with the registry(a reinstall fixed that), and one other time when a known and reported by UBI server did in fact go down for a few hours. Both instances was back in march.
Since then no connection problems what so ever, ad I also have never lost a saved game either since installing, even after the reinstall I did.
And something else, I did not have to mess with the registry when I did that reinstall, only delete the folders left behind by the uninstaller.
So it's best to leave that registry alone, this could be causing problems.

And one more thing, stop the crack talk now as that will only get you in trouble here. And it's not going to help in the least, in fact it will hurt.
So if you are having connection problems, calmly and in an adult manner discuss it and always look to self, and your own system and ISP first.
Contacting UBI support, and also your own ISP's support is a good idea too, UBI support solved mine the one time it happened due to my system restore.
They can and will help, but you have to give them the chance to.
But coming in here and stomping your feet, and talking of cracks will only get the thread locked, and get you a trip to Bangkok, a wig and some gawdy makeup.

Thanks SabreHawk, I think you are probably right and something is up on my end or possibly my ISP. This is why I have not contacted Ubi so far. I am very careful with the registry, made that mistake many years ago. I am considering doing a clean install of my OS (and make an image of it while the registry is still clean). Would be nice if I could find the problem though...

Did any of you have to open ports? If so, which ones?

The only time I've heard of ports needing to be opened was for multiplayer. I guess you could try just turning your firewall off before you attempt to connect (I've done that in the past for games , along with the virus protection too)

Really think you need to contact support as we don't seem to have the answers here.

I solved the problem!

Turns out there were some entries in my host file which apparently directed the game to a faulty location or something like that. I cleared my host file and it all works like a charm again.

Thanks for trying to help me!
