what's wrong with the air dropped torpedoes? I fixed them in my IRAI mod and are working fine. Or am I missing something?

I think that back in the day (before this thread was necro'd) There was a lot of Chinese whispers going on. Some people were claiming various bits of the game were broken (without even owning the game) and I dare say this was the case here.

If I remember correctly - this led to the "Hater" - "Fanboi" wars

I remember setting up some situations with the map editor in SH4, and torpedo bombers were able to score some hits on warships. I was impressed. Sadly fighters don't attack bombers or anything as awesome as one would hope

So if there is piles of identical code from SH4 in SH5, there is a chance that air-dropped torpedoes should work. Anyone try this out?

When I was in black pit campaign - triumph of wolfpack mission, during sailing with blinking wolfpack, HX or HXF convoi appeared. Subs started act like fools, some of them retreating underwater, some of them surfaced and exchanging fire with enemies. But some of them fired salvos and damaged some transports. (stock game, no mods)

To have them act less foolish you´ve got to install IRAI .

To be quite honoust i,ve never seen them in action. I,ve seen some blue sub icons on map but there allways to far away from my current combat zone. When i usually find a convoy first thing i do is send a contact report and stalk the convoy for days and nights till i dont have a single torpedo left . All i can tell you that even stalking convoys for days on end there never was a single other u-boat to join the fight, let alone a whole wolfpack.

I just attacked a large convoy of the East coast of England (North Sea). Called it in with a "contact report" and started tracking them until night fell. Sunk 4 ships when I realised that there were a few others that I hadnt hit that were sinking. I was just about to fire another salvo when I saw two airplanes come into view in my scope - they were German and attacked the convoy! Not sure if there was another sub about but very exciting nonetheless. Then my game crashed to desktop...needless to say, once it loaded up again nothing happened as per usual.

Something very similar occured to me in norwegian waters. There were twou Ju-88s that played havoc with the convoy. Both were shot down but not before I managed to get close and sink three ships (one of them already damaged by the planes I presume). The escorts never saw what happened

I once saw a HUGE task force (1 carrier 1 battleship and lots of destroyers) somewhere between Norway and Scotland, who were being attacked by a few planes and a sub. They sunk 4 destroyers and damaged the battleship before they got obliterated. Made it easier for me to get the carrier and BB though
