Let me put it this way: How exact and detailed has Ubisoft made the Damage Factor in SH5 ? If I aim at the stern, well below the waterline, and hit it, shouldn't the rudder/prop usually be blown away or seriously damaged, and the ship come to a standstill? If I aim for the bow below the waterline and the whole bow explodes shouldn't the ensuing hole slow the ship down as the sea floods in? Or am I expecting too much ? is RL more fickle than I assume it to be?
I have tried quite a few combinations so far and have yet to see a consistency in damage effects. I have plugged a merchant ship 4 times and seen it limp away at 5 knots. I have plugged a merchant ship once and it blew up instantly. I have sent 2 torps into a ship stern and still it sped away. I have sent one torp into the bow and it sped even faster away. I have sent a torp into the bow and someone must have laid a gunpowder trail to a nearby ammo dump for the whole fore section exploded in a 4th July fireworks display. If variety is indeed the spice of life then I am experiencing it. Is anyone else having similar experiences? |
