Yeah, you make all very good points.

There are lots of types of people and lots of various things people find more fun than others. I'd love to log in and be the cook, or the sonar man, or whatever. I like the 'team' aspect of it and pulling together. Everyone doing their part.

Sure.. you can get promoted as time goes on and want the Old Man's job... and in time get it too.

or.. you can start the game in Singleplayer mode and play it just like it is today. Just thought a social-option would be really cool.

There's already no shortage of MMOs, another one based on a niche market would only fall at the first hurdle. To make money you have to appeal to a broader market, and I seriously doubt submarines have this appeal to most people, especially MMO players.

Nice idea but would be a dull game... where everyone would want to be a captain....

I wouldn't mind peal potatos but 5 minutes later I'd be shooting everyone else on that sub.

So I'm sorry to give...

OH come on, I wan't to be the guy that lays in his bunk for 60 days reading the same book he has been for the last 2 years, all this while we are being rammed by a friendly merchant and the boat is upside down. Hell yeah I'd pay $30.00 bucks a month for that.

I said once that I would love to see SH as mmo where we all play the same map. Traveling long distances can be made as it is in Pirates of Burning Sea, so actually we can access the ship only in the pvp/pve areas and ports. Would be awesome to form real wolfpacks and hunt down massive convoys with heavy escorts or just going with only few friends to hunt in the enemy ports. This combined with the possibility to play on the surface with boats, could be a very interesting mmo with some real tense pvp all over the map.

Do you seriously expect such a huge change done to an already published Ubisoft game? I mean guys... they didn't even implement an automatic Estimated Navigation option.

Maybe, MAYBE in the future, people like Oleg will create a persistent online Storm of War universe with aircraft and ships (and subs). But we'll all be spending 100% of our time playing X-Plane 10 with a full VR helmet by then...

Yeah, I don't expect that from Ubi. But who knows, maybe some day a pro gaming company will take over SH or create a new sub sim. At least I/we can dream about it

The idea of the entire thread was to just daydream about the possibilities.

Perhaps my title was wrong. It mentions SH5. Maybe SH42?

Would have to be expanded to include all sorts of platforms as well-warships and planes natch. But yes it would be a logistical nightmare to run-either you get Warp Drive Time Compression Engines, a reasonably historically-sized but massively boring real time map, or a tiny and bowdlerized map which allows for plenty of "action" but no real strategy or manuever. Navyfield, perhaps wisely, decided to focus strictly on the tactical side of things, for good or bad.

yes...familiar...VERY familiar!

OK! If this happens can I be the one who gets to scream, "EXTREME SPEED AHEAD" and, "BE MORE AGGRESSIVE?" If no one's got dibs, ME, ME, ME! (being part of Dieter's execution squad would be cool, too)

At least let me stand behind you during the Dieter execution, Mcarlsonus
Additionally, I hope I didn't come off as trying to kick anyone's teeth in McHub...
Everyone's wound up pretty tight lately with DRM and then a buggy product and then a delayed patch...These forums have been pretty atypically harsh as of late. Your ideas are great, it's great that you're always thinking and having ideas that you share with everyone here. So just to clarify my response to you earlier, I agree with your base idea here. Only the three letters, "M-M-and O" give me pause.
Multi-user submarines =
Cheers, brothers.
