t0maz,

The dark border is so that the TDC dials stand out. Not sure how to go about making it "lighter" without perhaps going back to a more SH3 screen where you see various other items?

Can you please explain what you mean please?

I mean that almost black background in those textures is not 0 0 0 in RGB.
It is lighter, so I see on left and right edge texture that it is end and then rest is in real black to edges of my screen -> 0 0 0 RGB.

If u set gamma higher you should see that clear - i see it in your screenshots.

I have made corrections that you can donwload here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?myz4gyzjyhd

You can use "color picker" tool on corners of fixed and old textures to see differences in rgb.

T0maz,

Thanks for that, I normally have the gamma down a small amount to keep things "darker" so I didn't notice what you meant.

Your fix is great, If you don't object, can I use it in an update. Credit will be given for your help.

Hi NauticalWolf,

Firstly great job man, nice to get rid of the plain black cut out for a periscope view!

It works very well with Arclights more realistic periscope apart from one thing, if you install Arclights mod with the colour filters on the OBS scope, the colour filters get removed by the file overwrite from this mod.

Not too worried about it, because as far as I am concerned ive got the best compromise between the two But then again, if there is a way around it I can try to get full functionality, I would be most grateful to know what it is!

Thanks again!

G'day stalintc,

I've actually been working on that to be part of a new periscope/UI mod I'm working on. Still haven't quite got it to do what I want it to, but I've got the screen filtres finished.

My plan is to have a button on the periscope/s screen/s to turn on or off up to two different colour filters. Don't know yet if this can be done, but is on list of hings to do/try.

Report on U-570 http://www.uboatarchive.net/U-570BritishReport.htm
Colour Glasses
19. Two colour glasses are provided which can be introduced singly or together near the focal plane of the eyepiece. One of the glasses is a bright orange and the other a very deep neutral. The neutral glass had the appearance of being a lightly metallisied glass.

TheDarkWraith and Reaper7 have given me a little help because I'm a complete numpty with code/script.

My periscope UI will be based on SH3 style, with some "tweeking" the idea will be to have a UI thats a little less star trek and a little more period (emersive).

Happy Snaps:
Based on photos of U-boat parts

and of course coloured filters for the periscope views

Unfortunately tis slow progress (did I mention the code/script numptiness? )

Its not even worth starting a WIP thread because this UI work seems to take forever.

If this info is of any help for the masks: The orange filter served for preventing blending when looking against sunrise/sunet. The deep gray one was intended to eliminate the bright refelections in the peak of the waves.

The picture you posted with the four torpedo tubes is from the bow torpedo room. The indicator with ALL torpedo tubes that was in the conning tower looked different in its layout (But the light bulbs and metal panel texture were identical):

Here is one from a Type IX (U-505) so you can see where it was located in the conning tower and how it looked like:

Keep the good job

G'day all,

Yoram777, I hadn't thought of a minimal dial set up,

Hitman, thank you for the reference photo, I can change that easy (graphics) . I couldn't find a combined one in the material I've got on U-590, so thats why I went for the one out of the fwd torpedo room.

TheDarkWraith , as always many thanks and much appreciation
