i dont have the game so i cant give specifics but engines are a primary system and NOT a subsystem so they are most likely just not on the list of destroyed equipt that can be "undestroyed" by special abilities.

there is most likely a list in a file somewhere that tells the game what can be "undestroyed" by special abilities so if you find where that is then maybe you can add the engines to the list.

have you checked the status screen?

I have had the diesel engines damaged, even off line from DCs, but you can see them get repaired over time, i.e:

yes, send out a distress signal to U-Boat control.

If far out to sea, they would hope another U-Boat would come to rescue the crew after which they would scuttle the boat.

If it was close to a friendly port, ships would be sent out to tow the U-Boat back to port.

Did you realize how big those things are? Those engines couldn't be disassembled at sea. Maybe you could fix the injection pump, a leaky fuel pipe or even change a broken valve spring, but everything else required the ship to be in drydock. I think that, as in most big naval engines, each of the six engine pots could be switched off individually so, if the problem was severe but limited, the engine could still be operated.

I cannot imagine what mishap could cause the destruction of one of those engines... a gripped piston, maybe. Or due to depth charge damage, the hull is bent enough that the shafts are affected too. It happened sometimes on ships struck by seafloor mines.

Any major repair was carried out in drydocks. The sub was gutted open and the engines lifted with a heavy crane. I think I have seen a photo somewhere on one the books on the argument I own.

Man, I hope you are a good swimmer

Hey don't knock me never been on a sub before my limited knowledge comes from Das Boot and Hunt for Red October

Well no joy - I had 10 promotion points remaining and gave them all to my cook for his abilities and to up his passive ability. Got my whole crews morale to 100% using meals ( Gay I know) and Engineer still "Can't do that right now"

Ended up reloading...

Macgyver could fix destroyed systems. All he would need is: A paper clip, ballpoint pen, rubber band, tweezers, nasal spray, and a turkey baster.

Morale is currently busted. Either use MoraleMod to completely remove it or wait till next week when it's supposed to be fixed.

What about the A-Team?? They could have fixed it and turned it into a tank at the same time!!!

Wouldn't sea water in the fuel wreck the engines???

HELL NO!! They would not fix it into a tank! They would turn it into a floating tank with a flamethrower.
