Also if it does.. does this mean that the game is historicaly acurate with where certain ships were around the war??

A lot of the scripting in GWX3.0 is historically accurate but the game engine will not render ships within 30/50km of you, so whilst it is possible to see a ship disappear it is impossible to see one appear.

I guessed that what I ment was ships like for examplenot that am going to do this tho) Say I sat at a harbour in sh3 and waited would I see a convoy arrive and dock then leave again or a warship thats docked leave for patrol then come back and dock again or is the harbour traffic just static

Default habour raiding

I have gotten two AMC's, a large floating dry dock, and a Couragous carrier at Scapa. Not to hard if you know the nets and the dumb harbour patrol dd's keep hitting the shore.

In the Medd, I forget which harbour it is but you are always get a Dido, Fiji and some transports.

I guess it is allright if you have a dry patrol but it is a little like a cheat.

I've never noticed traffic like that, just the usual patrol vessels, docked ships, and however many merchants pop up in the area while I'm there.

If a convoy is scripted to disappear at its final waypoint (which is usually the case) say, 20km from a harbour entrance....then yes if you are in close proximity you would witness it vanishing...but you will never see one appear or start its journry because units will not render ingame if you are within rendering range which is 30-50km.

Can you give me a hint where the convoys passing through AM53 end?
I'm wondering if getting close to Liverpool is worth the risks.
(30 miles or so. I don't harbor raid.)

Interesting Jim.
So just to clarify,if I was say 20km from an enemy port you wouldnt normally see active traffic come and go in the area? This really is a shame.
I guess this forces the player to be more active in his playing style, and that suits me fine
The only traffic I have ever seen at ports is usually no more than 3 moored vessels, and they are usually no bigger than rowing boats and thats it.Come to think of it,if the game rendered a huge amount of traffic (as in real life) the fps would probably drop to about 1 fps,and the complaints would soon mount up.
Just for the record I managed to nail an inbound medium cargo just south of the Shetlands last night, this area is crawling it seems!
