Way to go Homeland Security! You can stop a 5 year old boy because he's on your "watch list." But, a 67 year old man with not one but TWO outstanding warrants for unlawful flight is allowed onto the plane with a firecracker for a domestic flight. Way to justify that paycheck guys!

By the way did anyone mention that the suspect recently returned from Yemen?

Well its metioned in the opening piece, mentioned a few more times throughout the topic, its mentioned in just about every media outlet that covered the story....so I think it was only one or two who didn't realise the middle eastern link.

Though I wonder....

Mate, there are differences between the color, face shape and body shape between the typical africans and typical middle eastern people. Im talking about typicals here.

...what exactly is a typical African? A San or a Maasai? A Sahrawi or a
Mbuti?
How about a typical middle easterner would that be a Zanj or a Chaldean?

Don't talk rubbish, I just gave you examples of typical africans and middle easterners and there is such a variety there in all aspects that it demonstrates that your "typical" thing doesn't exist.
Or do all Greeks look like Telly Savalas or would he be more of a typical european with his lips, skin colour, face and height or would it be Arnold Schwarzenegger that is the right shape and colour?
Would either of them be more American looking or would that be someone like Mike Tyson?

Lt. Fillipidis - let me share some advice with you. Ever heard the saying "Don't feed the troll"? If so - it applies here....

Now - the real issue here is the lack of security - both by our "international partners" as well as our own people. The reality is that other countries have different security protocols than we do for flights originating from theUS. One thing that I have not seen proposed from this mess is why we don't mandate our own screening rules and people for US bound flights. This way, regardless of what country the flight originates in, if its inbound to the US - it has to meet not only the host country's security checks, but our own as well.

Now I throw this out there with the caveat that my experience with international flights and the standards involving them is limited, so there might be problems with it. But it makes sense to me. Then again - if it makes sense, maybe that is the problem?
