I really do own a piece of history!!
Today I finally decided to do a bit of research into an old bayonet that my father gave me a long time ago that he got from a friend during his stint in the US Army in Germany back in the '60s. For a long time I had wondered what the words "Waffenfabrik Neuhausen" ment cause at the time I didn't understand German but I know now that it means Weapons Factory ,Neuhausen, which lead me to belive that it was a German bayonet from World War One due to the sawback blade which was used on bayonets of that time. But it turns out that it isn't German but SWISS!!!! Heres some info in the type of bayonet that I own.
Model 1914 Pioneer Bayonet - Often mistakenly referred to as 1911 Pioneer ![]() Blade Length - 18.9" (480mm) Handle Length - 4.9" (124mm) Total Length - 24" (610mm) Muzzle Ring Diameter - .56" (14.2mm) Issued with : Schmidt-Rubin Models 1911 Carbine, K31 Manufacturers: Elsener Schwyz, H.S., H.St., Waffenfabrik Neuhausen Description: The Model 1914 differs from earlier sawtooth models with the addition of the bulge at the end of the blade. Also, the 1914 is fullered on only one side. A musician's variant also exists, where the handle groove is filled in. The Model 1914 was issued to only select troops. When issued with K31s the were issued to: - Genie Truppen (Engineers) -Fahrerkorporale und beritten Wacthmeister der Artillerie (Driver Corporals and mounted artillery Sergeants) -Hufschmeid, Hufschmeid -Gefreite, -Korporal, -wacthmeister (blacksmiths, blacksmith Private First Classes or lance corporal, blacksmith Sergeants.) -Trainsoldaten, traingefreite, trainkorporal, trainwacthmeister (Horse transport soldiers, PFCs, corporals and sergeants) -Sattlers (Saddle makers) - Fahrer Feld Artillerie, Fahrer Feld Haubitze, Fahrer Schwer Feld Haubitze, (Drivers for Motorized Field Artillery, Howitzers and Heavy Howitzers) Edit I got pics!!!! ![]() The Bayonet in its cover. ![]() The Bayonet uncovered. ![]() The Bayonet, its cover, and my other piece of history a Model 06 .22 Pump Action Winchester Rifle. ![]() A closeup of the Sawback.

One time, talking to a friend, he said that veterans would advise the new and younger trops not to use that bayonet model because the alied trops showed no mercy to any german soldier that was find with this model.

Yowch RM, that's one butcher knife, and in good condiction too!
Here's my own little piece of history, you'll have to excuse the slight blurriness, still getting used to this new camera... It came from my Grandfather who was a Marine after the war, I believe he picked it up in Germany although it's quite possible that he got it from his father who served in the war. He also had a Luger but regrettably, that was lost many years ago. According to the stamp on the blade it's Solingen steel made in 1936 by Gebrüder Grafrath, Solingen-Widden. If any detail shots are required, and if my camera plays ball, I will be happy to provide ![]() ![]() EDIT: New image uploaded, slightly clearer version, smaller image size to prevent page stretching. Oberon, I'd keep that off the forum. The nanny police will be around as you might ***** yourself, or god forbid that knife could fall into the wrong hands.
