I want the crew to automatically draw the plots but only based on my observations.

If I make a crappy observation, well I may not know about it until it is too late.

One of the things I did not like about SH3 was that we were forced to choose one of two extreme alternatives.

1. GPS god's eye view where everything is plotted accurately - unrealistic

2. Totally manual plotting where the player has to do everything - unrealistic (especially when you can't plot when paused)

A happy medium can be reached where the player is responsible for the data acquisition and the computer can handle the graphical plots using player entered information.

Just like in real life where the Kaluen had crew members to help plot but they were blind and totally dependent on the skill of the Kaluen to make the observations.

The computer, in this case, would simulate the crew in that it would be highly skilled and fast at plotting mechanics but restricted to what the player (Kaluen) told it.

Oh and I think that before every single attack, the player must walk through the boat and manually ask each crew member how they liked the soup!

You're quite right.

And i read somewhere (i think it was on uboat.net) that it was the duty of the 1st officer to perform surface night attact (under captain supervision of course), we can see it in Das Boot.

Would be cool if this could be reflected in the game with a certain level of uncertainty depending on the officer skill and experience.

The good news is that crew performance seems to have been a major target of the devs.

The bad news is that they won't be performing The Hoochie Woochie.

If they can have the proper crew member at the proper station, and he performs his job, I'll be very happy and surprised.

Quartermaster/"Helmsman" at the plotting table.
Seaman on the helm, with an option to place the junior Quartermaster there during General Quarters.

I'll bet the devs have got it all covered already.
Confidence.

So we could see crew doing lot of things like repairing all kind of stuff or carrying meat and bananas, or do the hoochie woochie.

Most of all I want them to call me "Herr Kaleun" rather than "Kapitän".

I agree with NEXUS. Atleast ONE watch crew member smokeing would be realistic, durring the day. It would be cool to see a Pipe smokeing officer also, above and below deck.
